Vallikavu
Vallikavu is a small village in Kollam District of Kerala. Vallikavu is chiefly inhabited by farmers, fishermen and other sections of the society. Fishermen here were traditional Canoe builders and are skilled at making Changadam Vallam (the present Houseboat, House-Boats) using planks and coir ropes to tie the planks together and coating the Vallam with melted pith. The Vallam making artisans have died and with the advent of motor transport the industry died. The people of the village are very industrious and are good at various skills. The women used to collectively manufacture coir from the coconut, while few were engaged in making Mats out of Screw Pine. The community and is located about north-west of Karunagappally and north of Kollam. People of this village are literate and have contributed to the armed services, as many of them have worked in various armed forces for the country. Mātā Amritānandamayī Devī (born Sudhamani Idamannel; 27 September 1953), often known as Amma ("Mother"), is an Indian Hindu spiritual leader, guru and humanitarian, who is revered as 'the hugging saint' by her followers. In 2018, she was felicitated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for largest contribution to the Government of India's Clean India Campaign Swachh Bharat Mission. She was the first recipient of Vishwaratna Puraskar (Gem of the World Award) by Hindu Parliament. Ochira
Oachira or Ochira (') is an ancient temple town located 32 km away from Kollam city in Karunagappally taluk, Kollam district in Kerala, India.
