Valletta Cup
The Valletta Cup is a recurring Twenty20 International cricket tournament for associate members of the International Cricket Council in Europe. It is organised by the Malta Cricket Association, with the format being round-robin matches followed by a final; all matches are played at the Marsa Sports Club in Marsa, Malta. The first edition was held in 2019. 2019 The 2019 Valletta Cup was held between 17 and 20 October 2019. Four teams were involved: Malta, the Czech Republic, Iceland and a Hungary XI. Only matches played between Malta and the Czech Republic had official Twenty20 International (T20I) status. Czech Republic beat the Hungarian XI in the final. 2021 The 2021 tournament was held between 21 and 24 October 2021. The four teams were Malta, Bulgaria, Gibraltar and Switzerland. The Hungary national cricket team represents Hungary in international cricket. In June 2012, Hungary was awarded the International Cricket Council (ICC) affiliate member status in annual conference at Kuala Lumpur. In 2017, they became an associate member. The Luxembourg national cricket team is the team that represents Luxembourg in international cricket. The Luxembourg Cricket Federation became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1998 and an associate member in 2017. Ground Luxembourg's home ground is at the Pierre Werner Cricket Ground, in Walferdange which belongs to the country's largest club, the Optimists Cricket Club. The ground is named after the late Pierre Werner, a former Prime Minister of Luxembourg (1959–74, 1979–84). A Twenty20 International (T20I) is a form of cricket, played between two of the international members of the International Cricket Council (ICC), in which each team faces a maximum of twenty overs. The matches have top-class status and are the highest T20 standard. The game is played under the rules of Twenty20 cricket. Starting from the format's inception in 2005, T20I status only applied to Full Members and some Associate Member teams.
