Vallejo Chiefs
The Vallejo Chiefs were a short lived minor league baseball team based in Vallejo, California in the 1949 season. Hosting home games at A.F. of L. Park, the Chiefs played exclusively as members of the Class D level Far West League, before folding during their one season of play. History After Vallejo, California first hosted minor league baseball in 1892, the Vallejo Chiefs were immediately preceded by the 1913 Vallejo Marines of the California State League. The Vallejo Chiefs began minor league baseball play in 1949 as members of the eight–team Class D level Far West League, playing its second season. Joining Vallejo in 1949 league play were the Klamath Falls Gems, Marysville Braves, Medford Nuggets, Pittsburg Diamonds, Redding Browns, Santa Rosa Pirates and Willows Cardinals. The Santa Rosa Pirates were a minor league baseball team, located in Santa Rosa, California from 1948–1949. The team was originally an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1948, winning the Far West League title. In 1949 the team was without an affiliate and played as the Santa Rosa Cats. The Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs was an independent baseball league based in Northern California. The league was founded in 2013 by four former North American League teams. History During the initial season, two Hawaii-based teams, the Hawaii Stars and the Maui Warriors, played inter-league games against the Baseball Challenge League of Japan; California teams played against the Freedom Pro League of Arizona. Both Hawaii teams ceased operations after playing the 2013 season citing high travel costs of bringing in opponents from Northern California. The East Bay Lumberjacks also did not return for a second season. Two expansion clubs were added in 2014 (the Sonoma Stompers and Pittsburg Mettle) bringing the total number of teams to four. The Vallejo Admirals were an independent professional baseball team based in Vallejo, California. They were members of the Pacific Association of Professional Baseball Clubs, which was not associated with Major League Baseball. In 2017, the Admirals won the Pacific Association championship.
