Valery Spiridonov
Valery Fydorovich Spiridonov (russian: Валерий Фёдорович Спиридонов, born in 1957) is a former pair skater who competed for the Soviet Union. With Inna Volyanskaya, he won six international medals, including gold at the 1982 Nebelhorn Trophy. Career Early in his career, Spiridonov skated with Zoya Akinfieva. By 1979, he was competing with Inna Volyanskaya. Volyanskaya/Spiridonov won silver at the 1980 St. Ivel International, gold at the 1980 Blue Swords, silver at the 1981 Prague Skate, gold at the 1982 Grand Prix International St. Gervais, and gold at the 1982 Nebelhorn Trophy. After retiring from competition, they skated together in ice shows, including ''Torvill & Dean ,and the Russian Allstars''. Spiridonov coaches in Moscow. Personal life Spiridonov was born in 1957. Blue Swords (german: Pokal der Blauen Schwerter) is an international figure skating competition organized by the Deutsche Eislauf-Union. It is usually held in Chemnitz, Saxony, Germany. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Champions of the event win the "Blue Swords Trophy". History Blue Swords began as a senior international competition in East Germany, and was held annually between 1961 and 1998. In 1985, it became a junior-level event. Since 1997, it is chosen in some years by the International Skating Union to be part of the ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit. These are the only years when the event is still held. The International Skating Union (ISU) is the international governing body for competitive ice skating disciplines, including figure skating, synchronized skating, speed skating, and short track speed skating. The NHK Trophy is an international, senior-level figure skating competition held as part of the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series. Anton Valeryevich Spiridonov (born August 5, 1998) is a Russian-American ice dancer. With his current skating partner, Lorraine McNamara, he is the 2023 World University Games silver medalist and 2022 CS U.S. Classic bronze medalist. Personal life Spiridonov was born on August 5, 1998, in Kissimmee, Florida to parents Valery Spiridonov, a former pair skater, and Elena Garanina, a former ice dancer, both for the Soviet Union.
