Valery Kuzmin
Valery Ilyich Kuzmin (; 7 November 1918 – 1 June 1983) was an aviation pioneer in Yakutia who became the director of the Yakutsk division of Aeroflot, the Soviet state airline, a recipient of the titles Honoured Pilot of the USSR as well as Hero of Socialist Labor. He was also the first ethnic Yakut pilot. The Yakuts, or the Sakha ( sah, саха, ; , ), are a Turkic ethnic group who mainly live in the Republic of Sakha in the Russian Federation, with some extending to the Amur, Magadan, Sakhalin regions, and the Taymyr and Evenk Districts of the Krasnoyarsk region. The Hero of Socialist Labour (russian: links=no, Герой Социалистического Труда, Geroy Sotsialisticheskogo Truda) was an honorific title in the Soviet Union and other Warsaw Pact countries from 1938 to 1991.
