Valerie "Val" Cooper is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character works for the Office of National Emergency as the liaison for mutant affairs. She once claimed to have been inspired to government service by the interesting cases her brother, an FBI agent, encountered in his work. Publication history Valerie Cooper was created by Chris Claremont and John Romita Jr., and first appeared in ''The Uncanny X-Men'' #176 (Dec. 1983). Larry Stroman
Larry Stroman is an American comic book artist and writer. After first gaining attention illustrating the Epic Comics series ''Alien Legion'' (vol. 2), he went on to illustrate various Marvel Comics books such as ''The Uncanny X-Men'', ''X-Factor'', ''Ghost Rider'' (vol. 2) and ''Punisher'', as well as work for other companies, such as DC Comics' ''Darkstars'' and Dark Horse Comics' ''The Mark''. He briefly published a creator-owned series called '' The Tribe'' with Image Comics in the early 1990s. Shadow King
The Shadow King (Amahl Farouk) is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is particularly associated with the X-Men family of comics. His nemesis is the X-Men's leader, Professor X, while he also figures into the backstory of the X-Man Storm. As originally introduced, Farouk was a human mutant from Egypt who used his vast telepathic abilities for evil, taking the alias Shadow King. Muir Island Saga
The "Muir Island Saga" is a five-part Marvel Comics crossover event involving the X-Men and X-Factor, published in 1991. It was written by Chris Claremont and Fabian Nicieza. Plot After warnings from Forge and Banshee, the X-Men and Professor X investigate Muir Island, whose inhabitants have been taken over by the Shadow King. They are captured by the inhabitants. Professor X returns to his mansion, now in ruins after the Inferno storyline, to use Cerebro, only to find Stevie Hunter on the run from Colossus, also controlled by the Shadow King.
