Valenzuela's 1st Congressional District
Valenzuela's 1st congressional district is one of the two congressional districts of the Philippines in the city of Valenzuela. It has been represented in the House of Representatives of the Philippines since 2001. The district was created following Valenzuela's conversion into a highly-urbanized city through Republic Act No. 8526 on February 14, 1998. It consists of 24 barangays in the northern part of the city, namely Arkong Bato, Balangkas, Bignay, Bisig, Canumay East, Canumay West, Coloong, Dalandanan, Isla, Lawang Bato, Lingunan, Mabolo, Malanday, Malinta, Palasan, Pariancillo Villa, Pasolo, Poblacion, Polo, Punturin, Rincon, Tagalag, Veinte Reales and Wawang Pulo. Tagalag, Valenzuela
Tagalag, also known as Taga-Ilog, is an administrative division in northern Metro Manila, the Philippines. It is an urban barangay in the city of Valenzuela, and is famous for fish products such as tilapia and bangus, as well as desserts such as halaya and garbanzos. It was declared as a city eco-tourism zone in 2016. It is bounded by Polo River in the west, the Meycauayan River in the north and the Coloong river in the east. Etymology The name of the barangay is a combination of the Filipino words '' taga'', meaning "belonging", and ''alog'', which means "a pool of water in a field", owing to the flooding of the area that has formed the area's identity. Bobbit Carlos
Jose Emmanuel "Bobbit" Lozada Carlos (born December 25, 1957), is a Filipino physician and politician who last served as the Representative of the 1st District of Valenzuela to House of Representatives of the Philippines. He also served as the city's councilor from 1998 to 1992, vice mayor from 1992 to 1995, and mayor from 1995 to 2004. Elections for the House of Representatives of the Philippines were held on May 14, 2001. Win Gatchalian
Sherwin Ting Gatchalian (born April 6, 1974), known as Win Gatchalian, is a Filipino politician and businessman serving as a Senator since 2016. A member of the Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC), he previously served as the Representative of Valenzuela's 1st district from 2001 to 2004 and from 2013 to 2016. He was the Mayor of Valenzuela from 2004 to 2013. In 2001, Gatchalian was elected to the House of Representatives. After one term in Congress, he was elected mayor of Valenzuela. Valenzuela's At-large Congressional District
Valenzuela's at-large congressional district was a congressional district for Valenzuela in the Philippines. It was represented in the House of Representatives from 1987 up to its division in 2001. The district was apportioned in 1987, pursuant to the constitution ratified that year, giving the two municipalities their own joint district after having been grouped with Malabon and Navotas from 1984 to 1986. Rexlon Ting Gatchalian (born January 21, 1979) is a Filipino politician, first district representative of Valenzuela City, and was the 26th Mayor of the Valenzuela, Philippines.
