Carmo Valeriano "Valente" Mascarenhas (16 November 1925 – 23 August 1999) was an Indian actor, singer, composer, playwright, theatre director, and former make-up artist known for his work in Hindi, Konkani films, television, '' tiatr'' productions, and folk plays. Early life Carmo Valeriano Mascarenhas was born on 16 November 1925 in Guirim, Goa, which was part of Portuguese India during the Portuguese Empire, into a Goan Catholic family. He was the youngest of four children. He had three brothers: Rofino (born 1921), Leonardo (born 1917), and Jermeno (born 1915). They were born to Lourenco Caetano Mascarenhas, a landlord from Sangolda, Goa, and Maria Aninha Pascoala Mascarenhas, a homemaker. Cavel
Cavel is a neighbourhood in South Mumbai. It is located to the northeast of Dhobitalao near the Chira Bazaar area. It got its name from the Koli people, Koli word Kolwar. The Kolis of this village were converted to Christianity by the Portugal, Portuguese in the 16th century. Cavel thus became a Christian enclave, and later immigrants of this religion, from Goa, Daman District, India, Daman, Vasai, Bassein and Salsette settled here. The Tiatr Academy of Goa is a government body established by the Government of Goa in 2009 during the tenure of Digambar Kamat as the Chief Minister of Goa. Tomazinho Cardozo
Tomazinho Cardozo (born 14 April 1946), is an Indian politician, dramatist, playwright, writer (in Konkani and English) and educationist from Goa. He is a former Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly. He is known for his achievements on the literary front and the popular ''tiatr'' stage in Goa. Career Teaching and politics Cardozo was in teaching for much of his life, having taught maths and science at the school level. He was the ''sarpanch'' of Candolim village ''panchayat'' for 22 years from 1977.
