Valdis Celms
Valdis Celms (born 24 October 1943) is a Latvian artist, graphic designer and neopagan leader. He known for his kinetic art and is one of the leaders of the Baltic neopagan organization Latvijas Dievtuŗu sadraudze. Early life and education Valdis Celms was born on 24 October 1943 in , Sigulda Municipality. He was educated at the Riga Construction College and the Department of Industrial Art at the Art Academy of Latvia. Art and design Celms is considered one of the founders of kinetic art in Latvia due to his exploration of the artform in the 1960s. He became prominent in the Latvian artworld in the 1970s with his kinetic art, photomontages and graphic design. For his kinetic art, he combined modern materials and needs with influences from folk art and tried to emulate the movements of nature. Sigulda Municipality
Sigulda Municipality ( lv, Siguldas novads) is a municipality in Vidzeme, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2003 by merging Sigulda town, Sigulda Parish and More Parish. In 2009 it absorbed Allaži parish, too; the administrative centre being Sigulda. The population in 2020 was 17,992. On 1 July 2021, Sigulda Municipality was enlarged when Krimulda Municipality, Mālpils Municipality and Inčukalns Parish were merged into it. Ernests Brastiņš
Ernests Brastiņš (19 March 1892 – 28 January 1942) was a Latvian artist, amateur historian, folklorist and archaeologist. He is known as the founder and driving force behind the neopagan religion Dievturība, which he started in the 1920s and which was re-established after the fall of the Soviet Union. Biography Ernests Brastiņš was educated at the Stieglitz Art Academy in Saint Petersburg from 1911 to 1915. After military service in World War I and the Latvian War of Independence he became the director of the Latvian War Museum. During his time at the museum he studied Latvian history, Latvian ethnography, folk art and symbols, and investigated around 300 Latvian hill forts and the folklore connected to them. In 1925, Brastiņš co-wrote a neopagan manifesto with Kārlis Marovskis-Bregžis, titled ''Latviešu dievturības atjaunojums'' ().
