Val Acuña
Hezy Val B. Acuña II (born August 8, 1986) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Sta. Rosa Laguna Lions of the Pilipinas Super League. Collegiate career Acuña played straight out of the University of the East Red Warriors in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines, where he played for five seasons (2004 and 2006 to 2009). He was also part of the Warriors team that finished runner-up to the Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles in the 2009 season, where he averaged 19.2 points 7.2 assist and 11.2 rebounds in almost 32 minutes. Professional career Acuña was selected in the 2010 PBA draft by the B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados third overall in the second round over Ford Arao and Jai Reyes. He previously played for the Philippine Patriots in the ABL. In 2015, Acuña returned to the ABL after signing a contract with the Pacquiao Powervit Pilipinas Aguilas (now the Pilipinas MX3 Kings). The small forward (SF), also known as the three or swingman, is one of the five positions in a regulation basketball game. UAAP Season 72 was the 2009–2010 season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. It was hosted by Far Eastern University, with opening rites on July 11, 2009 at the Araneta Coliseum. The men's basketball tournament and the women's volleyball tournament were aired by ABS-CBN's UHF Studio 23 for the tenth consecutive year. UE Red Warriors refer to the collegiate men's varsity teams of the University of the East. The women's collegiate varsity teams are called the UE Lady Warriors. The Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines. History Manny Pacquiao launched the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League on August 29, 2017, starting off as a semi-professional league. According to Pacquiao, the league is not intended to be a competitor to the Philippine Basketball Association, the country's top professional basketball league. The MPBL was intended to feature both a regional commercial and barangay-level league with teams on the commercial side to have a home locality in addition to a corporate sponsor. 2013 ABL Season
The 2013 ASEAN Basketball League Regular Season was the fourth season of competition of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) since its establishment. A total of six teams competed in the league. The regular season began on 11 January 2013 and ended on 19 May 2013. Two teams from the previous season, inaugural champions AirAsia Philippine Patriots and Bangkok Cobras did not return for the current season. Preseason The ABL underwent contraction after it was announced that the Bangkok Cobras and the AirAsia Philippine Patriots would not be returning for the current season. The Brunei Barracudas, who were on leave for the 2012 season, were not announced to the list of active teams for 2013.
