Vaikom Sree Mahadeva Temple
The Sree Vaikom Mahadeva Temple is a temple dedicated to the Hinduism, Hindu god Shiva in Vaikom, Kerala, India. The temple, along with the Ettumanoor, Ettumanoor Shiva Temple and the Kaduthuruthy, Kaduthuruthy Shiva Temple is considered a powerful place of Shiva. The belief is that if a devotee worships all the three temples before the ''Ucha Puja (Hinduism), puja'', all his/her wishes are fulfilled. The temple is one of the few temples which is held in reverence by both Shaivism, Shaivas, the adherents of Shiva and Vaishnavism, Vaishnavas, the adherents of Vishnu. In Vaikom, Shiva is fondly called as ''Vaikkathappan'', the lord of Vaikom. The lingam here is believed to be from the ''Treta Yuga'', the third age of Hinduism and is considered one of the oldest temples in Kerala where Puja (Hinduism), puja has not been broken since its inception. Vazhappally
Vazhappally is a suburb of Changanasserry Municipality, Kottayam District, in central Kerala. The famous Vazhappally Shiva Temple is situated in Vazhappally. Vazhappally is a part of Changanacherry Taluk in Kottayam District. It is located in the city of Changanacherry and Vazhappally Panchayath. The ancient Vazhappally gramam (village) was shifted to the Changanassery Municipality, so small portions of the village were reunited in the Municipal Town of Changanassery, while the rest were reconstructed in the Vazhappally Gram Panchayat. Vaikkom Temple, A Tree Inside
Vaikom, , is a municipal town and a capital town of Vaikom Taluk, situated in the northwest of Kottayam district in the state of Kerala, India. The town is also noted for its role in the Indian independence movement for being the venue of Vaikom Satyagraham, a civil rights movement aimed at securing freedom of movement for all sections of society through the public roads leading to the Vaikom Shiva Temple. Vyaghrapada
Vyaghrapada (Sanskrit: व्याघ्रपद, IAST: vyāghrapada, lit. ''tiger-footed''), was one of the mythical rishis (sage) of ancient India. The tradition The legend states that Vyaghrapada was a rishi and he was entrusted with the task of picking up fresh flowers, untouched even by the honeybees, for offering to Shiva in his aspect as Nataraja in the temple complex of Chidambaram, located in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. While plucking the flowers, Vyaghrapada would get wounded on account of thorns and the rough surface. Shiva conferred on him feet of tigers and this ended the sage's miseries. So armed with the tiger's feet, the sage easily moved from place to place, including climbing rough trees to pluck fresh flowers untouched even by the honey bees.
