Vadilal Dagli
Vadilal Jechand Dagli (1926-1985) was Gujarati poet, essayist, leading economist and journalist of India. Life Vadilal Dagli was born on 20 November 1926 in Rojid village near Dhandhuka to Jechandbhai and Champaben Dagli. He completed his primary education from Veraval and secondary education from Sheth Chimanlal Nagindas Vidyalaya, Ahmedabad. He matriculated in 1944. In 1948, he completed BA and went to US for further studies. He studied MA in International Politics and Business from University of California Berkeley. He returned to India in 1951 and joined Press Trust of India. Later he served as the financial editor of ''The Indian Express''. He was appointed the Chief Officer of Mumbai Head Office of State Bank of India in 1963. He became an editor of the economic weekly, ''Commerce'' in 1967 and he was considered as the prominent economist in the country. Dhandhuka
Dhandhuka is a city and a municipality in the Ahmedabad district in the state of Gujarat, India. Moreover, it is a part of the Bhal region. Dhandhuka is said to have been founded by, and to take its name from, Koli Dhana Mer, or rather Mehd, the second of the thirteen sons of the Sonang Mehd who in early times came into Gujarat from Sind. No specific year is mentioned in ''Ras Mala'' by Alexander Kinloch Forbes. Having no son, Dhana Mehd is said to have given the town as a lasting gift to a party of 400 Brahman refugees from the wrath of Ebhal Walo. Swami Anand
Swami Anand (1887 – 25 January 1976) was a monk, a Gandhian activist and a Gujarati writer from India. He was the manager of Gandhi's publications such as ''Navajivan'' and ''Young India'' and inspired Gandhi to write his autobiography, ''The Story of My Experiments with Truth''. He wrote sketches, memoir, biographies, philosophy, travelogues and translated some works. Dhirubhai Thaker
Dhirubhai Premshankar Thaker (27 June 1918 – 22 January 2014) was an Indian Gujarati writer, who was best known for creating the ''Gujarati Vishwakosh'', a 25-volume encyclopedia of the Gujarati language. Life Thaker was born on 27 June 1918 in Kodinar, a city now in Junagadh District, Gujarat, India to his father Premshankar Thaker, and mother, Gomtibahen. His father was a Talati (village development officer) and was fond of reading literature. Thaker was a native of Viramgam, a town in Ahmedabad district. He completed his primary education from Kodinar and Chanasma while secondary education from Chanasma and Siddhpur. He completed matriculation in 1934 from L. S. High School, Siddhapur with Sanskrit and Science subjects. He received a BA from Elphinstone College in 1939 with Gujarati (Honours) and Sanskrit, and a MA in 1941 from the same college with Gujarati. In 1938, Mumbai University awarded him the M. M. ''Ruchi'' was a literary magazine published in Gujarati language by author and journalist Chunilal Madia from January 1963 to December 1968. History Chunilal Madia left United States Information Service in 1962 and started ''Ruchi'' monthly. He termed it as ''a magazine for creative thought''. It published its last issue in December 1968 as Madia died the same month. Content ''Ruchi'' published analysis of literary and cultural trends in Gujarati as well as other Indian languages and world. Madia himself wrote a column ''Chhindu Kholta'' under pen name Akho Rupero. He also wrote on social issues in ''Bahyantar'' column. Jhaverchand Meghani
Jhaverchand or Zaverchand Kalidas Meghani ( – ) was an Indian poet, writer, social reformer and freedom fighter. He is a well-known name in the field of Gujarati literature. He was born in Chotila where the Government College has been renamed for this literary figure as Raashtreeya Shaayar Zaverchand Meghani College, Chotila. Mahatma Gandhi spontaneously gave him the title of ''Raashtreeya Shaayar'' (National Poet). Besides this he received many awards like Ranjitram Suvarna Chandrak and ''Mahida Paaritoshik'' in literature. He authored more than 100 books. His first book was a translation work of Rabindranath Tagore's called ''Kathaa-u-Kaahinee'' titled ''Kurbani Ni Katha'' (Stories of martyrdom) which was first published in 1922.
