V Hits
[V] was an Australian music television channel that was owned and operated by Foxtel. It was available on Foxtel#Foxtel Digital, Foxtel Digital and Optus Television, Optus's digital services. In 2016, Foxtel decided to close Channel V Australia, Channel [V] Australia and refocus [V] Hits as its main channel. However, in 2017 [V] Hits was re-positioned as [V] and [V] Hits +2 was rebranded as [V]+2; a timeshift channel. In May 2020, it was announced that Foxtel would cease operations of [V] at the end of June. The channel was replaced by an NickMusic (Australian TV channel), Australian version of NickMusic as part of a deal with ViacomCBS Networks UK & Australia. NickMusic is an American pay television, pay television network and spin-off of Nickelodeon that mainly carries music video and music-related programming from younger pop music, pop artists that appeal to Nickelodeon's target audience, with some videos edited for content to meet a general TV Parental Guidelines, TV-PG rating applied across the network's broadcast day, or replaced with a lyric video instead. Like its sibling music video-only networks BET Jams, BET Soul, and CMT Music, NickMusic is based on an broadcast automation, automated "wheel" schedule that was introduced during the early years of MTV2.
