VTB United League
VTB United League (russian: Единая Лига ВТБ) is an international professional men's club basketball list of basketball leagues, league that was founded in 2008. It is made up of mostly Russian clubs, along with one each from Belarus and Kazakhstan. Since VTB United League 2013–14, 2013, it is the Russian basketball league system, first tier of Russian professional club basketball. Therefore, the highest placed Russian team in the league is also named list of Russian basketball champions, Russian national champions. The league is sponsored by Russian state-owned VTB Bank. In 2008 PBC CSKA Moscow, CSKA Moscow won VTB United League Promo-Cup, but this competition does not count as official VTB title. 2017–18 VTB United League
The 2017–18 VTB United League was the 9th complete season of the VTB United League. It is also the fifth season that the league functions as the Russian domestic first tier level. It started on 5 October 2017 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 10 June 2018 with the championship game of the Final Four. CSKA Moscow were the defending champions. CSKA Moscow successfully defended its title as it won the final over Khimki. Format changes From this season, the top eight teams qualify for the playoffs. These are played in a best-of-five format with a 1–2–2 structure. The four teams that win their playoff series qualify for the Final Four tournament, which decides the new champion. The 2021–22 VTB United League is the 13th season of the VTB United League. It is the 9th season that the league functions as the Russian domestic first tier level. Teams A total of 10 teams from three countries contest the league, including eight sides from Russia, one from Belarus, and one from Kazakhstan. BC Khimki didn't apply for this season because of the financial difficulties. On 24 February 2022 Kalev/Cramo terminated their membership with VTB United League due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. The next day the league confirmed receiving declaration letter from the club. Xavi Pascual (basketball)
Xavier "Xavi" Pascual i Vives, commonly known as Xavi Pascual, (born 9 September 1972) is a Spanish professional basketball coach who is the head coach for Zenit Saint Petersburg of the VTB United League and EuroLeague. On 9 May 2010 he became the youngest head coach to win the EuroLeague championship (only counting the Euroleague Basketball Company era, since the year 2000), and soon after, he also won the EuroLeague Coach of the Year Award. Astana Basketball Club ( kk, Astana Basketbol Kluby), commonly referred to as BC Astana, is a Kazakh professional basketball club that is based in Astana, Kazakhstan. CSKA Moscow was the defending champion and successfully defended its title. This season, 13 teams participated in the league after four sides from the previous year left. Teams VITA Tbilisi, Bisons Loimaa, ČEZ Nymburk left the league, after participating in the 2015–16 season. Parma Perm from the Russian Basketball Super League joined the league. BC Zenit Saint Petersburg (russian: БК Зенит Санкт Петербург), formerly known as BC Dynamo Moscow Region (2003–2007) and BC Triumph Lyubertsy (2007–2014), is a Russian professional basketball team that is located in Saint Petersburg, Russia, since 2014.
