VIPR
VIPR can refer to: *Volumetric Imaging and Processing of Integrated Radar * Virus Pathogen Database and Analysis Resource (ViPR), a publicly available database and analysis resource for viral pathogens in the U.S *Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response team (TSA program in the US) *VIPR1, a G protein-coupled receptor * EMC ViPR, a software-defined storage offering *''Vastly undersampled Isotropic Projection Reconstruction'' of Phase contrast magnetic resonance imaging *Vasoactive intestinal peptide receptor There are two known receptors for the vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) termed VPAC1 and VPAC2. These receptors bind both VIP and pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) to some degree. Both receptors are members of the 7 tra ...

Visible Intermodal Prevention And Response Team
A Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response team, sometimes Visible Intermodal Protection and Response (VIPR) is a Transportation Security Administration program. Various government sources have differing descriptions of VIPR's exact mission. It is specifically authorized by which says that the program is to "augment the security of any mode of transportation at any location within the United States". Authority for the program is under the Secretary of Homeland Security. The program falls under TSA's Office of Law Enforcement/Federal Air Marshal Service. TSA OLE/FAMS shares responsibility for the program with the Office of Security Operations and Transportation Sector Network Management. The VIPR teams detain and search travelers at railroad stations, bus stations, ferries, car tunnels, ports, subways, truck weigh stations, rest areas, and special events. They also can deploy to deal with CBRNE/ WMD (chemical, biological, radioactive, nuclear, and explosive weapons of mass destru ...

Phase Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Phase contrast magnetic resonance imaging (PC-MRI) is a specific type of magnetic resonance imaging used primarily to determine flow velocities. PC-MRI can be considered a method of Magnetic Resonance Velocimetry. It also provides a method of magnetic resonance angiography. Since modern PC-MRI is typically time-resolved, it provides a means of 4D imaging (three spatial dimensions plus time). How it Works Atoms with an odd number of protons or neutrons have a randomly aligned angular spin momentum. When placed in a strong magnetic field, some of these spins align with the axis of the external field, which causes a net 'longitudinal' magnetization. These spins precess about the axis of the external field at a frequency proportional to the strength of that field. Then, energy is added to the system through a Radio frequency (RF) pulse to 'excite' the spins, changing the axis that the spins precess about. These spins can then be observed by receiver coils (Radiofrequency coils) using ...

Virus Pathogen Database And Analysis Resource
The Virus Pathogen Database and Analysis Resource (ViPR) is an integrative and comprehensive publicly available database and analysis resource to search, analyze, visualize, save and share data for viral pathogens in the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Category A-C Priority Pathogen lists for biodefense research, and other viral pathogens causing emerging/reemerging infectious diseases. ViPR is one of the five Bioinformatics Resource Centers (BRC) funded by NIAID, a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which is an agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Virus families covered in ViPR The ViPR database includes genomes from these viral families: Arenaviridae, Bunyaviridae, Caliciviridae, Coronaviridae, Filoviridae, Flaviviridae, Hepeviridae, Herpesviridae, Paramyxoviridae, Picornaviridae, Poxviridae, Reoviridae, Rhabdoviridae, and Togaviridae. Data types in ViPR * Genomes * Genome annot ...

VIPR1
Vasoactive intestinal polypeptide receptor 1 also known as VPAC1, is a protein, that in humans is encoded by the ''VIPR1'' gene. VPAC1 is expressed in the brain (cerebral cortex, hippocampus, amygdala), lung, prostate, peripheral blood leukocytes, liver, small intestine, heart, spleen, placenta, kidney, thymus and testis. Function VPAC1 is a receptor for vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), a small neuropeptide. Vasoactive intestinal peptide is involved in smooth muscle relaxation, exocrine and endocrine secretion, and water and ion flux in lung and intestinal epithelia. Its actions are effected through integral membrane receptors associated with a guanine nucleotide binding protein which activates adenylate cyclase. VIP acts in an autocrine fashion via VPAC11 to inhibit megakaryocyte proliferation and induce proplatelet formation. Clinical significance Patients with idiopathic achalasia show a significant difference in the distribution of SNPs affecting VIPR1. VIP ...

Volumetric Imaging And Processing Of Integrated Radar
Volumetric Imaging and Processing of Integrated Radar, known by the acronym VIPIR, is an analysis and display program for Doppler weather radar, created and sold by Baron Services. This software allows improved analysis of radar data for private users, in particular television stations, similar to the ''Weather Decision Support System'' program used by the National Weather Service. Technique WSR-88D, or NEXRAD, Doppler radars scan at various elevations, creating a volume scan. This data can be manipulated in a three-dimensional view by VIPIR. The result of this process is a three-dimensional image of the storm, which may be rotated and viewed from any angle. If imagery is zoomed in at an adequate range, actual weather satellite data can be superimposed. VIPIR images can be constructed from multiple sources, including Doppler weather radar and NEXRAD. It is used by television meteorologists to give a comprehensive view of weather, in particular severe weather events. Algorithms I ...

EMC ViPR
ViPR Controller is a software-defined storage offering from EMC Corporation announced on May 6, 2013, at EMC World. ViPR abstracts storage from disparate arrays into a single pool of storage capacity that "makes it easier to manage and automate its own data-storage devices and those made by competitors." ViPR became generally available September 27, 2013. Description and core components ViPR is deployed as software-only virtual appliances on ESX servers and does not require the installation of new hardware. ViPR separates the data plane from the control plane. The control plane is a software layer that manages storage; the data plane is the storage infrastructure, including networks, where storage devices perform reads and writes to disks and/or memory. ViPR enables management of multivendor platforms, including third-party storage. With the ViPR Controller, users abstract physical storage into virtual storage pools, create storage categories or classes (such as high-performan ...
