''V2'' is the second studio album by the punk band the Vibrators, released in 1978 on Epic Records. The album was dedicated to Wolf "Moishe" Moser. Chart performance It was their most successful album, reaching No. 33 in the UK Albums Chart. The single "Automatic Lover", taken from the album, was the only Vibrators’ single to reach the UK Top 40 where it reached No. 33. It earned the band a TV appearance on the prime-time TV show Top of the Pops. Reissues Some of the songs from this album and the previous album ''Pure Mania'' were combined to form the American album ''Batteries Included'', released by CBS Records in 1980. It was packaged together with ''Pure Mania'' by Track Records in 2002, and has recently been re-issued by Captain Oi! The Vibrators
The Vibrators are a British punk rock band that formed in 1976. Early career The Vibrators were founded by Ian ' Knox' Carnochan, bassist Pat Collier, guitarist John Ellis, and drummer John 'Eddie' Edwards. They first came to public notice at the 100 Club when they backed Chris Spedding in 1976. On Spedding's recommendation, Mickie Most signed them to his label RAK Records. Most produced their first single, "We Vibrate". The band also backed Spedding on his single, "Pogo Dancing". The Vibrators recorded sessions for John Peel at BBC Radio 1 in October 1976, June 1977, and February 1978. They were one of the pioneering punk bands that played at London's Roxy Club. They headlined in January 1977, supported by the Drones, and in February they played twice at the venue. In March 1977, the band supported Iggy Pop on his British tour. ''Trouser Press'' was a rock and roll magazine started in New York in 1974 as a mimeographed fanzine by editor/publisher Ira Robbins, fellow fan of the Who Dave Schulps and Karen Rose under the name "Trans-Oceanic Trouser Press" (a reference to a song by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and an acronymic play on the British TV show ''Top of the Pops)''. Publication of the magazine ceased in 1984. The unexpired portion of mail subscriptions was completed by ''Rolling Stone'' sister publication ''Record'', which itself folded in 1985. Red House (song)
"Red House" is a song written by Jimi Hendrix and one of the first songs recorded in 1966 by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. It has the musical form of a conventional twelve-bar blues and features Hendrix's guitar playing. He developed the song prior to forming the Experience and was inspired by earlier blues songs. "Red House" was first released on the British edition of Hendrix's debut album ''Are You Experienced'' in May 1967 (for the American album release, previously released Experience singles were used in its place). A second similar take was eventually released in the US in July 1969 on the American ''Smash Hits'' compilation. The song was a fixture of Hendrix concerts throughout his career. Gary Tibbs (born Gary Brian Tibbs, 25 January 1958) is a bass guitarist and actor. He is best known as a member of Adam and the Ants and Roxy Music. He appeared alongside Hazel O'Connor in the film '' Breaking Glass'' (1980) as bass guitarist Dave. Tibbs was born in Northwood, London. He was a member of Adam and the Ants, and is mentioned by name in the lyrics of the band's UK top ten hit " Ant Rap". At various times he was a member of Zu Zu Sharks, Code Blue, The Believers, Roxy Music, The Vibrators and The Fixx. He first played on The Fixx's 2003 album, '' Want That Life''. John Ellis (guitarist)
John Ellis (born 1 June 1952) is an English guitarist and songwriter. Career Ellis was a co-founder of the pub rock band Bazooka Joe in 1970 and a founding member of the punk rock band The Vibrators. He formed The Vibrators in 1976 while still at art school studying illustration. The Vibrators released two albums with Ellis and toured extensively. Knox (born Ian Milroy Carnochan, 4 September 1945) also known as I.M. Carnarchan is a British musician and founding member of the seminal punk rock, punk band the Vibrators. Biography Born in London, he spent his formative years in Cricklewood, (NW postcode area, North West London) and then Watford, where he became interested in the guitar at the age of thirteen. He was in various school bands, based at Watford Grammar School for Boys, including The Renegades and Knox and the Knight Ryders. Knox's budding musical development was gradually put on hold when he went to art school (in Watford, and in the West of England), where he developed an interest in painting. In 1972, Knox returned to playing music and in early 1976 was a founder member of the Vibrators, a Pub Rock band that cut its hair, changed its wardrobe, and jumped on the post-Sex Pistols punk bandwagon, despite its members being 10 years older than most of the originator bands.
