Data Transfer Object
In the field of programming a data transfer object (DTOMSDN (2010). Data Transfer Object. Microsoft MSDN Library. Retrieved from https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms978717.aspx.Fowler, Martin (2010). Data Transfer Object. Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture. Retrieved from http://martinfowler.com/eaaCatalog/dataTransferObject.html.) is an object that carries data between processes. The motivation for its use is that communication between processes is usually done resorting to remote interfaces (e.g., web services), where each call is an expensive operation. Because the majority of the cost of each call is related to the round-trip time between the client and the server, one way of reducing the number of calls is to use an object (the DTO) that aggregates the data that would have been transferred by the several calls, but that is served by one call only. The difference between data transfer objects and business objects or data access objects is that a DTO does not h ... Vendetta Online
''Vendetta Online'' is a Twitch gameplay, twitch-based, science fiction massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by Guild Software for the operating systems Android (operating system), Android, Linux, Mac OS X, iOS, and Microsoft Windows. It uses the NAOS game engine, a fully real-time flight model and combat system, to offer First-person shooter, first-person/Third-person shooter, third-person shooter-style player versus player and player versus environment battle action against the backdrop of a massively multiplayer universe. ''Vendetta Online'' shipped as a commercial MMORPG on November 1, 2004 with a subscription-based business model, although it has been running continuously since April 2002. ''Vendetta Online'' is available to play across a wide array of platforms, including the Oculus Rift virtual reality display, allowing all users to directly interact in a single, contiguous galaxy. It is also notable for its twitch combat and fidelity to real phy ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Commitment Ordering
Commitment ordering (CO) is a class of interoperable ''serializability'' techniques in concurrency control of databases, transaction processing, and related applications. It allows optimistic (non-blocking) implementations. With the proliferation of multi-core processors, CO has also been increasingly utilized in concurrent programming, transactional memory, and software transactional memory (STM) to achieve serializability optimistically. CO is also the name of the resulting transaction schedule (history) property, defined in 1988 with the name ''dynamic atomicity''.Alan Fekete, Nancy Lynch, Michael Merritt, William Weihl (1988)''Commutativity-based locking for nested transactions'' (PDF)MIT, LCS lab, Technical report MIT/LCS/TM-370, August 1988. In a CO compliant schedule, the chronological order of commitment events of transactions is compatible with the precedence order of the respective transactions. CO is a broad special case of '' conflict serializability'' and effective me ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Visual Objects
Visual Objects is an object-oriented computer programming language that is used to create computer programs that operate primarily under Windows. Although it can be used as a general-purpose programming tool, it is almost exclusively used to create database programs. The original Visual Objects project (code-named Aspen) was started as part of Nantucket's attempts to bring the Clipper language to Windows, and move from the procedural to the object-oriented style. It also converted Clipper from a p-code system to being a true native compiler and introduced more elements of the C language (such as typed variables), while including Windows extensions (such as COM, ODBC, and later ADO). With its symbol datatype, it offers the ability to form name-based linkages, which may be used to connect menu events to object methods or form direct linkages between server columns and controls. The Windows version was finally brought to market by Computer Associates. Unfortunately it was rel ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Velocity Obstacle
In robotics and motion planning, a velocity obstacle, commonly abbreviated VO, is the set of all velocities of a robot that will result in a collision with another robot at some moment in time, assuming that the other robot maintains its current velocity. If the robot chooses a velocity inside the velocity obstacle then the two robots will eventually collide, if it chooses a velocity outside the velocity obstacle, such a collision is guaranteed not to occur. This algorithm for robot collision avoidance has been repeatedly rediscovered and published under different names: in 1989 as a maneuvering board approach, in 1993 it was first introduced as the "velocity obstacle", in 1998 as collision cones, and in 2009 as forbidden velocity maps. The same algorithm has been used in maritime port navigation since at least 1903. The velocity obstacle for a robot A induced by a robot B may be formally written as : VO_ = \ where A has position \mathbf_A and radius r_A, and B has positio ... Vanadium(II) Oxide
Vanadium(II) oxide is the inorganic compound with the idealized formula VO. It is one of the several binary vanadium oxides. It adopts a distorted NaCl structure and contains weak V−V metal to metal bonds. VO is a semiconductor owing to delocalisation of electrons in the t2g orbitals. VO is a non-stoichiometric compound In chemistry, non-stoichiometric compounds are chemical compounds, almost always solid inorganic compounds, having elemental composition whose proportions cannot be represented by a ratio of small natural numbers (i.e. an empirical formula); m ..., its composition varying from VO0.8 to VO1.3. Diatomic VO is one of the molecules found in the spectrum of relatively cool M-type stars. Value Object
In computer science, a value object is a small object that represents a ''simple'' entity whose equality is not based on identity: i.e. two value objects are ''equal'' when they ''have'' the same ''value'', not necessarily being the ''same object''. Examples of value objects are objects representing an amount of money or a date range. Being small, one can have multiple copies of the same value object that represent the same ''entity'': it is often simpler to create a new object rather than rely on a single instance and use references to it. Value objects should be immutable: this is required for the implicit contract that two value objects created ''equal'', should remain equal. It is also useful for value objects to be immutable, as client code cannot put the value object in an invalid state or introduce buggy behaviour after instantiation. Value objects are among the building blocks of DDD. Implementation Due to the nuances of various object-oriented programming languages, e ... Vojvodina
Vojvodina ( sr-Cyrl, Војводина}), officially the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, is an autonomous province that occupies the northernmost part of Serbia. It lies within the Pannonian Basin, bordered to the south by the national capital Belgrade and the Sava and Danube Rivers. The administrative center, Novi Sad, is the second-largest city in Serbia. The historic regions of Banat, Bačka, and Syrmia overlap the province. Modern Vojvodina is multi-ethnic and multi-cultural, with some 26 ethnic groups and six official languages. About two million people, nearly 27% of Serbia's population, live in the province. Naming ''Vojvodina'' is also the Serbian word for voivodeship, a type of duchy overseen by a voivode. The Serbian Voivodeship, a precursor to modern Vojvodina, was an Austrian province from 1849 to 1860. Its official name is the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. Its name in the province's six official languages is: * Croatian: ''Autonomna Pokrajina Vojvodina'' * ...
