V. P. Ganeshan
Vythilingam Palanisamy Ganesan (known as ''V. P. Ganesan'') was a Sri Lankan trade unionist, politician, film producer and actor. Biography Ganeshan was the president of the trade union, Democratic Workers Congress and father of Mano, a Sri Lankan Minister and human rights defender, Praba, a former Member of Parliament, Gowri, a solicitor, Baskaran and Prakash, prominent industrialists in the hotel trade. He produced and acted in the lead roles in three movies, ''Pudhiya Kattru'', ''Naan Ungal Thozhan'' and ''Naadu Pottra Vaazhgha''. As of now, he remains the only film producer to make three Tamil films in Sri Lanka and all of them were reasonable successes. Akilan Manoharan Ganesan (born 17 December 1959) is a Sri Lankan trade unionist, politician and government minister. He is the leader of the Democratic People's Front (DPF) and Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA), members of the United National Front for Good Governance (UNFGG). Early life Ganesan was born on 17 December 1959. He is a son of V. P. Ganesan, trade unionist and film producer, and brother of Praba Ganesan, former Member of Parliament. Democratic Workers Congress
The Democratic Workers Congress is a political party and trade union in Sri Lanka. It was founded by Abdul Aziz and was formally registered on 1 January 1956. History The party's origins relate back to the founding of the Ceylon India Congress (CIC) on 25 July 1935, with V. R. M. V. A. Lechumanan Chettiar as its president and Abdul Aziz and H. M. Desai as joint-secretaries. In 1942 Aziz was elected as president of the CIC and Savumiamoorthy Thondaman as its secretary.
