Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2016
Finland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Sing It Away" written by Sandhja Kuivalainen, Milos Rosas, Heikki Korhonen, Petri Matara and Markus Savijoki. The song was performed by Sandhja. The Finnish broadcaster Yleisradio (Yle) organised the national final ''Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2016'' in order to select the Finnish entry for the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. 18 entries were selected to compete in the national final, which consisted of three semi-finals and a final, taking place in February 2016. Six entries competed in each semi-final and the top three from each semi-final, as selected solely by a public vote, advanced to the final. Nine entries competed in the final on 27 February where the 50/50 combination of votes from ten jury groups representing different factions of Finnish society and votes from the public selected "Sing It Away" performed by Sandhja as the winner. Sandhja
Sandhja Kuivalainen (born 16 March 1991), known professionally as simply Sandhja, is a Finnish singer. She represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Sing It Away". Sandhja was born to an Indo-Guyanese mother and a Finnish father. Mikko Silvennoinen
Mikko Silvennoinen (14 May 1975 in Kiihtelysvaara) is a Finnish television host, journalist and producer. At 18, he started as a host of the music programme ''Jyrki''. He was one of the first well-known faces of the show. After hosting ''Jyrki'' for one year, Silvennoinen left to study television in the United States where he did interviews and reports about the world of entertainment for Nelonen and the magazines ''Apu'' and ''Katso''. He graduated from California State University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Studies and Broadcast Journalism. Pasi Siitonen (born 22 August 1978, in Finland), better known by his stage name Stig or Stig Dogg, is a Finnish hip hop, R&B and country music singer. He has also played in jazz/funk bands like G-Litter, Kuja Orchestra and Raisin Team. He is a studio engineer under the pseudonym Hullukoira at 3rd Rail Music. Jimi Constantine (born Konstantinos Jorma Hiekkanen, 31 December 1981) is a Finnish musician and actor. He was previously the vocalist and guitarist of the band Technicolour. He has also played with the bands Tyrävyö, Cliché, and Kalle Päätalo. His previous artist name was Jimi Pääkallo. Matthew Ker, known by his stage name MaJiKer, is a British songwriter-producer and performer. He resides in London and works internationally, having lived for many years in Paris, France. Jonas Gladnikoff
Jonas Gladnikoff (born 11 January 1985) is a Swedish songwriter and music producer. Born in Täby, he began songwriting at an early age. Later in life he moved to Åland in Finland before eventually moving to Stockholm. He has written several songs for singers from across Europe, but is best known for writing entries for the Eurovision Song Contest and for various national pre-selections. Kimmo Sakari Blom (31 January 1970 – August 2022) was a Finnish singer and stage artist, known for his work in several rock and metal bands such as Urban Tale, Boys of the Band, and Heartplay. Tapio Huuska (born 14 July 1975), known by his stage name Cristal Snow, is a Finnish musician, television presenter, and a drag artist. He was one of the candidates to represent Finland in Eurovision Song Contest 2008.
