Uttoxeter Rural
Uttoxeter Rural is a civil parish in the borough of East Staffordshire, Staffordshire, England, comprising the villages of Stramshall and Bramshall. It is separate from the town of Uttoxeter, and surrounds it to the north, west and south. The population was 1,567 at the 2001 census, increasing to 1,635 at the 2011 Census. Until 1974, there was a Uttoxeter Rural District that covered a larger area. Representatives In East Staffordshire Borough Council Uttoxeter Rural is covered by the Abbey ward and is represented by Christopher Smith of the Conservative Party. In Staffordshire County Council Uttoxeter Rural is part of the larger ward of the same name and is represented by Philip Atkins of the Conservative Party who is also the leader of Staffordshire County Council. Uttoxeter ( , ) is a market town in the East Staffordshire district in the county of Staffordshire, England. It is near to the Derbyshire county border. It is situated from Burton upon Trent, from Stafford, from Stoke-on-Trent, from Derby and north-east of Rugeley. The population was 13,089 at the 2011 Census. The town's literary connections include Samuel Johnson and Mary Howitt. History Uttoxeter's name has been spelt at least 79 ways since it appeared in the Domesday Book of 1086 as "Wotocheshede": it probably came from Anglo-Saxon ''Wuttuceshǣddre'', meaning "Wuttuc's homestead on the heath". Bramshall is a village to the west of Uttoxeter, within the parish of Uttoxeter Rural, in Staffordshire. It has a new housing estate to the north of it. Kate Elizabeth Kniveton (previously Griffiths; born 1971) is a British politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Burton in Staffordshire since 2019.
