Ute Noack
Ute Noack (born 27 December 1961) is a former East German cross-country skier who competed during the 1980s. Noack was born in Annaberg-Buchholz, Bezirk Karl-Marx-Stadt. She won a bronze medal in the 4 × 5 km relay at the 1985 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld and also finished 11th in the 20 km event at those same championships. Annaberg-Buchholz
Annaberg-Buchholz () is a town in Saxony, Germany. Lying in the Ore Mountains, it is the capital of the district of Erzgebirgskreis. Geography The town is located in the Ore Mountains, at the side of the ''Pöhlberg'' ( above sea level). History The previously heavily forested upper Ore Mountains were settled in the 12th and 13th centuries by Franconian farmers. Frohnau, Geyersdorf, and Kleinrückerswalde—all now part of present-day town—are all attested from 1397. Barbara Uthmann introduced braid- and lace-making in 1561 and it was further developed in the 1590s by Belgian refugees fleeing the policies of Fernando Álvarez de Toledo, 3rd Duke of Alba, Spain's governor over the Low Countries. The industry was further developed in the 19th century, when Annaberg and Buchholz were connected by rail to Chemnitz and each other and both settlements had specialized schools for lace-making. Cross-country Skiing At The 1984 Winter Olympics – Women's 10 Kilometre
The 10 kilometre cross-country skiing event was the first event cross-country skiing programme to take place at the 1984 Winter Olympics, in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. It was the ninth appearance of the 10 km race. The competition was held on Thursday, February 9, 1984 at Veliko Polje, Igman and was the first final to be held at the games. Marja-Liisa Hämäläinen of Finland took Gold and was the second Finn to win this event after Lydia Wideman in 1952. The 1976 gold medal winner, Raisa Smetanina, won silver. All 52 athletes who entered the race finished with an official time. FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1999
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 1999 took place February 19–28, 1999 in Ramsau am Dachstein, Austria. The large hill ski jumping events took place at the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen. The 7.5 km Nordic combined sprint event debuted at these championships. Simone Opitz (born 3 July 1963 in Sonneberg, Bezirk Suhl) is an East German-German cross-country skier who competed from 1985 to 1993. Competing in two Winter Olympics, she earned best finish of fifth twice at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary (20 km, 4 × 5 km relay). Opitz's best finish at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships was fifth in the 10 km event at Val di Fiemme in 1991. Holmenkollen National Arena ( no, Holmenkollen nasjonalanlegg) is a Nordic skiing, ski jumping and biathlon venue located at Holmenkollen in Oslo, Norway. It consists of the large ski jumping hill Holmenkollbakken, the normal hill Midtstubakken and a stadium for cross-country skiing and a shooting range for biathlon. Antje Misersky
Antje Harvey (born May 10, 1967 in Magdeburg, as Antje Misersky) is a former German cross-country skier and biathlete. She began her career as cross country skier and was a member of the East German team that won the 4 × 5 km bronze medal at the 1985 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld. When her father, Henner Misersky, who worked as a trainer of the East German team until 1985, refused to give steroid substances to his daughter and other team members, he was fired. Gaby Nestler is a former East German cross-country skier who competed during the 1980s. She won a bronze medal in the 4 × 5 km relay at the 1985 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld and also finished 10th in the 20 km event at the 1987 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf. Nestler earned one victory in a 10 km event in Les Saisies, France in 1986 which made her the youngest race winner in the World Cup history. Seefeld in Tirol is an old farming village, now a major tourist resort, in Innsbruck-Land District in the Austrian state of Tyrol (state), Tyrol with a local population of 3,312 (as of 1 January 2013).
