Muri, Aargau
Muri, formerly known as Muri (Freiamt), is a municipality in southeastern Swiss Canton Aargau and is the capital of same district. The present municipality of Muri was created in 1816 from the merging of the four municipalities Langdorf, Egg, Hasli and Wey. Geography The community consists of three districts. Immediately west of the monastery lies the community of Wey, slightly more than a kilometer south of the district Langdorf (formerly known as Dorfmuri). East of the railway line, at a distance of half a kilometer of the village is Egg. There are also several hamlets: Hasli is located one kilometer north of the monastery, Vili one kilometer in a northwesterly direction, and Langenmatt one kilometer to the west. 2011 Crocodile Trophy
The 2011 Crocodile Trophy was the 17th edition of the Crocodile trophy Mountain Bike stage race. The race was held from 18 October to 27 October. The race covered divided over 10 stages. Pre race favourites were the winner of last two events: Urs Huber, runner-up of the last two events and former olympic champion: Bart Brentjens and number three of the last two events: Mike Mulkens. Huber aimed to be the first rider in history to win the trophy three times in a row. Race Overview Only two of the pre race favourites would eventually start the race. Bart Brentjens pulled out of the event before the first stage due to an illness. On the first day of the Trophy it started to rain in North Queensland. The organisation decided that it was not safe for the riders to race in the heavy rain and decided to neutralize the stage. Marathon mountain bike races, often referred to as cross-country marathon (XCM), are a very demanding form of mountain bike racing covering at least usually in mountainous terrain. Events held in Europe are typically just a little longer than the average cross country mountain bike race. Marathon events in the USA and Canada are typically longer than and are very different from cross country races. The 2010 Crocodile Trophy was the 16th edition of the Crocodile trophy Mountain Bike stage race. The race was held from 19 October to 28 October. The race covered divided over 10 stages. The favourites for the overall victory all finished on the podium in the 2009 edition: Urs Huber, Bart Brentjens and Mike Mulkens.
