Uri Adelman ( he, אורי אדלמן; September 3, 1958 – August 5, 2004) was an Israeli writer, musician, composer, computer expert, and professor at Tel Aviv University. Biography Adelman was born and raised in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv, the 8th generation of a German-Jewish family hailing from Jerusalem. Adelman used the TAU's musicology department where he worked as a setting for his first thriller novel, ''Concerto for Spy and Orchestra''. His second novel, ''Lost and Found'', was a fantasy novel about Ashkenazi moshavnik Mossad agents, who alternated frequenting the Jerusalem Cinematheque with flying secretly to Cyprus. Uri Nissan Gnessin
Uri Nissan Gnessin (1879–1913) was a Russian-Jewish writer and a pioneer in modern Hebrew literature. Early life He was born in Starodub, and grew up in the small town of Pochep, Orel province. His father was a rabbi and the head of a yeshiva in Pochep. His brother was Menahem Gnessin, a co-founder of the Habima Theatre. After attending cheder, Gnessin studied at his father's yeshiva, and there became friends with Yosef Haim Brenner, a fellow student. As a boy he wrote poetry and was interested secular subjects; when he was 15 years old, he and Brenner together produced a literary journal that they distributed to a small circle of friends. Uri Savir ( he, אורי סביר; 7 January 1953 – 14 May 2022) was an Israeli diplomat and politician. He was Israel's chief negotiator for the Oslo Accords and served as a Member of Knesset (MK) from 1999 to 2001. Early life Savir was born in Jerusalem on 7 January 1953. His father, Leo, co-founded the Israeli Foreign Service. Savir studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in international relations. Career Savir first worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an information officer at the Israeli embassy in Canada, before acting as a press officer at the consulate in New York City. Uri Sagi ( he, אורי שגיא; born 5 August 1943) is an Israeli retired general who held several prominent posts including commander of the Golani Brigade and chief of the IDF's Military Intelligence Directorate. In 2000–2003 Uri Sagi was the CEO of Mekorot, Israel's national water company. Biography Uri Sagi was born in Kiryat Bialik during the Mandate era, a seventh generation native of Palestine. He is married to Gila and has three children. He had a fourth daughter born outside of marriage who died of leukemia at age 19. Uriël "Uri" Rosenthal (born 19 July 1945) is a retired Dutch politician of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and political scientist. Rosenthal a political scientist by occupation, was elected as a Member of the Senate on 8 June 1999 after the Senate election of 1999. Uri Orlev (; 24 February 1931 – 26 July 2022) born Jerzy Henryk Orłowski, was a Polish-born Israeli children's author and translator. He received the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1996 for his "lasting contribution to children's literature", the Prime Minister’s Prize for Hebrew Literary Works in 1972 and the Bialik Prize for literature in 2006. Biography Uri Orlev was born in 1931 in Warsaw, Poland, the son of a physician. During World War II, his father was taken captive by the Russians and he lived with his mother in the Warsaw Ghetto until she was killed by the Nazis. He served as Deputy Minister of Transportation and Road Safety and was previously a member of the Knesset for the Haredi party Degel HaTorah, which together with Agudat Yisrael forms the United Torah Judaism list. Uri Magbo ( he, אורי מגבו; born 12 September 1987) is an Israeli footballer who currently plays for Sektzia Ness Ziona. Early life Magbo was born in Tel Aviv District, Israel. His father is African-American of Nigerian descent, whereas his mother is Jewish-Israeli and of Persian-Jewish descent. Uri Lupolianski ( he, אורי לופוליאנסקי; born 1951) was mayor of Jerusalem from 2003 to 2008 and founder of Yad Sarah. Biography Born August 29, 1951 in Haifa, Israel, Lupolianski studied at the Yavne School in Haifa and then attended Yeshivat Hanegev and Yeshivat Torah Ore. Uri Kokia ( he, אורי קוקיה; born May 14, 1981) is an Israeli professional basketball coach and a former professional basketball player. He is the current head coach for Ironi Ramat Gan of the Liga Artzit. Kokia played as a center/power forward position and was a member of the Israel national basketball team.
