Urabá Antioquia
Urabá Antioquia is a subregion in the Colombian Department of Antioquia that consists of two enclaves, one forming the northwest corner of the department the other, the west, both are along the Atrato River and are separated by the El Carmen del Darién and Riosucio municipalities of the Chocó Department with territories in both municipalities in dispute with Chocó. The region is made up by 11 municipalities. Most of this region's northern portion is part of the Colombian Caribbean Region bordering the Caribbean sea. Urabá Antioquia also acts as the headquarters of the powerful and ruthless Clan del Golfo, a cocaine-trafficking, neo-paramilitary organization. Apartadó
Apartadó () is a town and municipality in the Antioquia Department, Colombia. "Apartadó" means "river of plantains" in the local Indian language. The town is located near the Atlantic Ocean in the Gulf of Urabá, the economy is based in bananas, plantain, corn, cassava, cocoa, wood and livestock. The mean maximum temperature is and the relative humidity is above 80% all year round. Apartadó is divided in 48 neighborhoods, and here is the best high school of the region of Urabá Antioquia. Vigía Del Fuerte
Vigía del Fuerte is a town and municipality in the Colombian department of Antioquia. The town is on the eastern bank of the Atrato River, which locally forms the border between the Antioquia and Chocó Departments of Colombia. Vigía del Fuerte neighbours Bellavista, and played a significant role, suffering losses during, and receiving those fleeing the Bojayá massacre in 2002. Necoclí
Necoclí is a town and municipality in Antioquia Department, Colombia. It is on the eastern shore of the Gulf of Urabá. Its population is predominantly Afro-Colombian, Black descendants of former slaves. It was founded as a Spanish city called San Sebastián de Buena Vista. One of Colombia's oldest towns, it was founded in 1509 by Pedro de Heredia, who died in 1555. Some early reports of the town can be found in chapter 9 of Pedro Cieza de León's ''Crónica del Perú'' (1553). Necoclí Airport is a general aviation airport, without scheduled flights. Buses link the town with Cartagena, the department capital of Medellín, and other points. Turbo, Antioquia
Turbo is a port city in Antioquia Department, Colombia. It is located on the coast of Gulf of Urabá, 340 km north of Medellín (the department capital and second largest city). This port city is the capital of the Urabá Antioquia, Urabá region of Antioquia. The place where Turbo is today was known as Pisisí, but by 1741 people were already talking about Turbo. By a decree on May 11, 1839, the central government spent one thousand pesos for military service barracks in Turbo. In 1840, the republican president assigned one thousand fanegas of uncultivated lands for the new population. It was established as a municipality in 1847. Turbo lies near the southeastern tip of the Darién Gap and is the northern terminus of the main route of the Pan-American Highway in South America. Arboletes is a town and municipality in the subregion of Urabá in Antioquia Department, Colombia. The municipality is bounded by the Caribbean Sea to the north, the department of Córdoba to the north and east, the municipality of San Pedro de Urabá to the south and west, and the municipalities of Turbo and Necoclí.
