Unplugged (Die Fantastischen Vier Album)
''MTV Unplugged'' is part of the ''MTV Unplugged'' series and the second live album of German hip hop group Die Fantastischen Vier. The group were the second German-speaking artists to make an appearance on ''MTV Unplugged'', after Herbert Grönemeyer in 1995. Contrary to the wishes of the producers, the concert was not recorded in MTV studios in London, but in the Balver Höhle (''Balver cave''), a cave in the Sauerland used mainly for Balver Märchenwochen. The album peaked at No. 6 in the German charts as wells as at No. 7 and No. 18 in Austria and Switzerland. Die Fantastischen Vier (, "The Fantastic Four"), often shortened to Fanta 4, is a German hip hop band from Stuttgart. The members are Michael Schmidt (Smudo), Andreas Rieke, Thomas Dürr, ''janitor''), and Michi Beck. German Hip Hop
German hip hop (locally known as ''Deutschrap'', ''Deutsch'' meaning German) refers to hip hop music produced in Germany. Elements of American hip hop culture, such as graffiti art and breakdancing, diffused into Western Europe in the early 1980s. It was not until the early 1990s that German hip hop entered the mainstream as groups like Die Fantastischen Vier and the Rödelheim Hartreim Projekt gained popularity. It was recorded on 21 September 2003 at the Römerkastell in Stuttgart, the last show of the group's ''Unplugged''-tour. ''MTV Unplugged'' is an American television series on MTV showcasing musical artists usually playing acoustic instruments. The show aired regularly from 1989 to 1999 and less frequently from 2000 to 2009, when it was usually billed as ''MTV Unplugged No. 2.0''. Herbert Arthur Wiglev Clamor Grönemeyer (born 12 April 1956) is a German singer, musician, producer, composer and actor, popular in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Balver Höhle (German for Balve Cave) is the biggest cave used as a cultural venue in Europe. It is located in Balve, Germany. History The Balve Cave was mentioned in the Thidrekssaga.
