''Unplugged'' is a live album by American hip hop group Arrested Development. Performing live at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York City on December 17, 1992, their performance was recorded for the ''MTV Unplugged'' television series. Arrested Development is an American hip hop musical ensemble, group that formed in Atlanta in 1988. It was founded by Speech (rapper), Speech and Headliner (DJ), Headliner as a positive, Afrocentrism, Afrocentric alternative to the gangsta rap popular in the late 1980s. Baba Oje and frontman Speech (rapper), Speech met at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee when they were both students. Baba Oje was 57 years old at the time. History Arrested Development was formed in 1988 by rapper and producer Todd Thomas ("Speech (rapper), Speech") and turntablism, turntablist Timothy Barnwell (known as Headliner (DJ), Headliner). ''The Village Voice'' is an American news and culture paper, known for being the country's first alternative newsweekly. Founded in 1955 by Dan Wolf, Ed Fancher, John Wilcock, and Norman Mailer, the ''Voice'' began as a platform for the creative community of New York City.
