Unna Station
Unna station is the main passenger station in the Westphalian city of Unna in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The other stations in the city that are served by regular passenger services are Unna-Königsborn, Unna West, Massen, Lünern and Hemmerde. History The station was opened in 1855 as part of the Dortmund–Soest railway built by the Bergisch-Märkische Railway Company (BME) and equipped with an impressive station building, which was sold for non-rail purposes in 2005. In 1866, the BME opened the line from Unna to Hamm to connect with the Cologne-Minden trunk line. Later the line was extended from Unna to Hagen, making Unna station into a railway junction of regional importance. Between 1899 and 1901 the Prussian state railways opened the Fröndenberg–Kamen railway to connect the three east-west lines in the area. Unna
Unna is a city of around 59,000 people in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, the seat of the Unna district. The newly refurbished Unna station has trains to all major cities in North Rhine Westphalia including Dortmund, Cologne, Münster, Hamm, Düsseldorf and Wuppertal. There is also the Regional-Express 7 (Rhein-Münsterland-Express), which runs from Rheine via Cologne to Krefeld. Geography Unna is situated on an ancient salt-trading route, the Westphalian Hellweg. Trade on this route and during the period of the Hanseatic League came from as far as London. The city is located at the eastern extremity of the Ruhr district, about east of the centre of Dortmund. Hellweg-Bahn
The Hellweg net consists of the four Regionalbahn lines in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia: RB 50 (Münster – Lünen – Dortmund), RB 59 (Dortmund – Unna – Soest), RB 69 (Münster – Hamm – Bielefeld) and RB 89 (Münster – Hamm – Paderborn – Warburg). The Sauerland Net (german: Sauerland-Netz) is a group of railway services in the western Sauerland and the eastern Ruhr of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and consists of three Regionalbahn services, RB 52 (Dortmund–Hagen–Lüdenscheid), RB 53 (Dortmund–Schwerte–Iserlohn) and RB 54 (Unna–Fröndenberg–Menden–Neuenrade), and the Regional-Express service RE 57 (Dortmund–Bestwig–Winterberg/Brilon Stadt). Maas-Wupper-Express
The Maas-Wupper-Express (RE 13) is a Regional-Express service in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), running from the Dutch border town of Venlo to Hamm in Westphalia. Route Together with the Wupper-Express (RE 4) and Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn line S 8, the Maas-Wupper-Express provides an east-west link between the lower Rhine of Germany and the eastern Ruhr. It runs on the tracks of the Venlo–Viersen, Viersen-Mönchengladbach, Mönchengladbach–Düsseldorf, Düsseldorf–Wuppertal, Wuppertal–Hagen and Hagen–Hamm lines. The Rhein-Münsterland-Express (RE 7) is a Regional-Express service in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). The hourly service initially runs to the south east from Krefeld via Neuss to Cologne and then turns to run to the northeast via Solingen, Wuppertal, Hagen to Münster. Kamen station is a station in the city of Kamen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is on the Dortmund–Hamm railway.
