University Soccer Club is a soccer club which represents the University of Tasmania in the Tasmanian Southern Championship which fields both men's and women's teams. History The university first competed in the KO Cup in 1957, although it is believed football was played here prior to this time. They did well in their inaugural year, although drawing the KO Cup final 1–1 against South Hobart, they won on the toss of a coin. They won again after a 1–1 draw the following year, this time against ANM and by right of the most corners in extra-time. 1960 saw them Division 1 champions, and promoted into the Southern Premier League for the first time, where they finished 5th in their first season. Mount Nelson, Tasmania
Mount Nelson is a suburb of the city of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia above the Hobart suburb of Sandy Bay and to the south of Hobart's CBD. Because of its views over the River Derwent (Tasmania), it is one of the more prestigious suburbs in Hobart. The main road in Mount Nelson is Nelson Road, which extends up the mountain from the Wrest Point Hotel Casino into the Sandy Bay suburb. It is known for its "bends", which consist of seven very sharp corners created as the road winds its way up the mountain. South Hobart Football Club is an Australian soccer club based in Hobart, Tasmania. Founded in 1910, the club currently competes in the NPL Tasmania. South Hobart plays home games at South Hobart Ground and also fields teams in all junior divisions, as well as women's teams. The Tasmanian soccer championship describes the method of determining the best soccer club in Tasmania, Australia. The championship has been decided using three different formats; a statewide league, a playoff between Northern and Southern league Champions and lastly a statewide finals system with top teams from Northern and Southern leagues. Formats Tasmanian Statewide League The Tasmanian Statewide League was the highest state-level competition in Tasmania prior to being disbanded in 2000. Nationally, it was on par with Australia's other state leagues, below the National Soccer League. Launceston City Football Club is an Australian soccer club based in Launceston, Tasmania. The club was founded in 1957 and currently participating in the Tasmanian NPL Tasmania since 2013, run by the governing body Football Federation Tasmania. Devonport City Strikers Football Club, or the "Strikers" is a soccer club based in Devonport, Tasmania. It competes in the National Premier Leagues, the second-tier of Australian football.
