The University of Queensland Cricket Club is a cricket club on the University of Queensland, Queensland, Australia. The club plays in the Queensland Premier Cricket competition. Queensland Premier Cricket
Queensland Premier Cricket is the top cricket competition played in Queensland, Australia. The competition was founded under the name Brisbane Electoral Cricket in 1897 and eventually came to be known as Brisbane Grade Cricket, but has since expanded to take in teams from Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, and Ipswich. As of the 2019/20 season there were six grades in the Two-Day Bulls Masters competition. In addition to the two-day Grade competition there is also a One-Day competition for the John McKnoulty Cup and a T20 competition for the Tom Veivers Trophy. There is also a women's One-Day competition for the Katherine Raymont Shield contested by eight sides as of the 2020/21 season, and a women's T20 competition under Queensland Premier Cricket. Martin Love
Martin Lloyd Love (born 30 March 1974) is a former Australian cricketer who played in five Test matches from 2002 to 2003. He was a right-handed batsman. Early life Love was educated at Mundubbera State School, Mundubbera High School and Toowoomba Grammar School. He graduated with a degree in physiotheraphy from The University of Queensland in 1997. Cricket He made 146 for Queensland in the 1994–95 Sheffield Shield final when the Bulls won their first 'Shield after 68 years in the competition. In 2002 he set a Durham record by making 251. He improved on that with a 273 in 2003. His Test debut was in the 2002–03 Ashes Series in Australia where he played in the 4th and 5th Tests, making 62*, 6*, 0 and 27. This was followed with a single Test in Barbados (36 & 2) and two Tests against Bangladesh in Australia in 2003 in which he made a duck and 100 not out. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Wade Seccombe
Wade Anthony Seccombe (born 30 October 1971 in Murgon, Queensland) is a retired Australian first-class cricketer representing the state of Queensland. A wicket-keeper, Seccombe spent much of his career as second choice behind incumbent Ian Healy, replacing him largely when the latter was on international duty. He was nevertheless regarded as a keeper of substantial skill, rated a "great keeper" by Australian captain Ricky Ponting. Seccombe made his first-class debut against a touring English team at Caloundra's Roy Henzell Oval in the season of 1992–93, claiming three catches and a stumping against the touring England A team in their first innings. Michael Scott Kasprowicz (born 10 February 1972) is a former Australian international cricketer, who played all formats of the game. He is a right arm fast bowler. He represented Queensland and played in the English county scene at first class level. Personal life A past student of Brisbane State High School, Kasprowicz is the older brother of former professional rugby union player Simon Kasprowicz. He holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Queensland. Kasprowicz is also a father to three children. Alan David Ogilvie (born 3 June 1951) is a former Australian cricketer who played in five Tests from 1977 to 1978 during World Series Cricket. Biography Ogilvie attended Brisbane Grammar School where he was a champion sportsman, representing the school in rugby, cricket, tennis, athletics and rowing. He played for the Queensland state colt side and was picked in the Sheffield Shield team in 1971–72 but was unable to rise past twelfth man for the next two seasons. He was eventually dropped from the side and lost his spot in the colts, but good grade form in 1974–75 saw him make his first class debut for Queensland. 1977–78 Season Ogilvie started the 1977–78 season extremely well, scoring consecutive centuries against Victoria, Western Australia, and South Australia. Tom Veivers
Thomas Robert Veivers (born 6 April 1937) is an Australian former cricketer, teacher, politician and public administrator who played in 21 cricket Test matches between 1963 and 1967. He is the great-uncle of Jack Wildermuth. Cricket career Veivers was an all-rounder who bowled right-arm off-spin and batted left-handed. Educated at Downlands College, in Toowoomba in southeastern Queensland, he attended the University of Queensland, whom he represented in club cricket. In 1955 for Downlands College against Gregory Terrace at the Brisbane Oval, he scored a 155.
