University Of Oregon Police Department
In the U.S. state of Oregon, enforcement of local, state, and federal law on public university property is delegated to a number of security, public safety, and police agencies. Public institutions in Oregon may elect to form campus police. The University of Oregon, Oregon Health & Science University, Oregon State University, and Portland State University have police departments. Other universities employ Public Safety Officers (with limited police powers) and security officers, or contract with other police agencies to provide services. Pine Mountain Observatory
Pine Mountain Observatory (PMO) is an astronomical observatory owned and operated by University of Oregon Department of Physics. The facility is located 26 miles (42 km) southeast of Bend, Oregon (USA) in the Deschutes National Forest near the summit of Pine Mountain. PMO supports a wide variety of programs with an emphasis on projects that allow undergraduate students to be involved with many aspects of facility operations. PMO also has robust programs centered on K-12 education and public outreach. The site was discovered and characterized by professors Russ Donnelly and E.G. Ebbinghausen in 1965 when they determined that the sky conditions were excellent and worthy of an observatory being built on Pine Mountain. The first telescope became operational in 1967. Oregon Institute Of Marine Biology
The Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (or OIMB) is the marine station of the University of Oregon. This marine station is located in Charleston, Oregon at the mouth of Coos Bay. Currently, OIMB is home to several permanent faculty members and a number of graduate students. OIMB is a member of thNational Association of Marine Laboratories(NAML). In addition to graduate research, undergraduate classes are offered year round, including marine birds and mammals, estuarine biology, marine ecology, invertebrate zoology, molecular biology, biology of fishes, biological oceanography, and embryology.
