University Of Limerick Vikings
The University of Limerick Vikings are the American football team from the University of Limerick in Limerick, Ireland. The team currently competes in the American Football Ireland Division One. The Vikings have won three IAFL Shamrock Bowl titles – in 2007, 2008 and 2009 and the Atlantic Cup in 2010. The Vikings' all-time record is 54–30–4 (0.580). History 1999–2006 Established in 1999, the team played mostly flag football until late 2001, when they joined the IAFL winter league. In UL's first-ever game, they took the field on the road to the eventual Shamrock Bowl champion Dublin Rebels and were beaten 48–0. The Valencia Firebats are a gridiron team based in Valencia, Valencian Community (Spain). History The team was established in April, 1993, as Valencia Bats, joining the defunct ''American Football League (AFL)'' for the 1994 season. The following season a new national league is created in Spain, divided in two divisions, First and Second. Valencia Bats are invited to compete in the First Division, where they have been playing ever since. The linemen of the team currently in possession of the ball are the offensive line, while linemen on the opposing team are the defensive line. The Belfast Trojans are an American Football team formed in January 2006, and have competed in the Irish American Football League, IAFL since 2007 playing NCAA rules in full contact. Morton Stadium, or the National Athletics Stadium, is an athletics stadium in Santry Demesne, Santry in Ireland. The International Federation of American Football (IFAF) is the international governing body of gridiron associations. Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role.
