Unity Cup
The Unity Cup was an international football tournament held in May and June 2004 at The Valley Stadium, London. Nigeria, Jamaica and Ireland were the competing sides. Nigeria won the competition with Ireland finishing second. The competitors were countries with large diasporas in London. The Valley (London)
The Valley is a 27,111 capacity sports stadium in Charlton, London, England and has been the home of Charlton Athletic F.C., Charlton Athletic Football Club since the 1920s, with a period of exile between 1985 and 1992. It is served by Charlton railway station, which is less than a five-minute walk away from the stadium. An alternative route is the Jubilee line; exiting at North Greenwich, and changing for route 161, 472 and 486 buses, which stop outside the stadium. Bartholomew Owogbalor Ogbeche (born 1 October 1984) is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Indian Super League club Hyderabad. The Nigeria national football team represents Nigeria in men's international Association football, football. The Jamaica national football team, nicknamed the "Reggae Boyz", represents Jamaica in international football. The team's first match was against Haiti in 1925. A diaspora ( ) is a population that is scattered across regions which are separate from its geographic place of origin. Obafemi Akinwunmi Martins (born 28 October 1984) is a Nigerian former professional footballer who played as a forward. He is known for his speed on the ball. After leaving Nigeria for Italy at age 16, he has since played for a number of top-division clubs around Europe. John Utaka
John Chukwudi Utaka (born 8 January 1982) is a Nigerian former footballer who played as a striker and is currently a youth coach at Montpellier HSC. He is the older brother of fellow professional footballer Peter Utaka. Utaka has played for several clubs across three continents, first for Arab Contractors, subsequently Ismaily of Egypt, and then spending a season playing for Al-Sadd of Qatar, before joining RC Lens and later Rennes in France. Graham Barrett (born 6 October 1981) is an Irish former footballer who played as a forward. He began his footballing career at Arsenal, where he won the FA Youth Cup. Barrett went on to feature for English clubs Bristol Rovers, Crewe Alexandra, Colchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion. He also appeared for Coventry City and Sheffield Wednesday.
