The 1994 congressional elections in Michigan were held on November 8, 1994 to determine who would represent the state of Michigan in the United States House of Representatives. Michigan had sixteen seats in the House, apportioned according to the 1990 United States Census. Representatives are elected for two-year terms. Michigan Democratic Party
The Michigan Democratic Party is the affiliate of the Democratic Party in the state of Michigan. It is based in Lansing. Lavora Barnes is the party's current chair. She was previously the party's Chief Operating Officer. The party currently controls half of Michigan's U.S. House seats, both U.S. Senate seats, and all statewide offices, holding the offices of governor, secretary of state, and attorney general. Starting in January 2023 as a result of the 2022 elections, the party will hold a government trifecta in the state, with new majorities in both chambers of Michigan Senate and Michigan House of Representatives, as well as continuous control of the governorship and all other executive statewide offices. Natural Law Party (US)
The Natural Law Party (NLP) is a political party in Michigan and was a national political party in the United States affiliated with the international Natural Law Party. It was founded in 1992, but beginning in 2004 many of its state chapters dissolved. The party's Michigan chapter is still active as of 2022. The party proposed that political problems could be solved through alignment with the unified field of all the laws of nature through the use of the Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs. Leading members of the party were associated with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, leader of the Transcendental Meditation movement. Libertarian Party Of Michigan
The Libertarian Party of Michigan is a Michigan state political party advocating a libertarian ideology and the state affiliate of the Libertarian Party of the United States. The party gained primary ballot access status in 2016 because of the vote total of presidential nominee Gary Johnson. The party lost their status since their 2018 gubernatorial nominee Bill Gelineau failed to reach that threshold in the general election. Several Libertarians have held public office in Michigan, most at the local level. The party is a member of the Michigan Third Parties Coalition which advocates changes in Michigan's election laws.
