David Alan Brat (born July 27, 1964) is an American academic and politician who is the dean of the Liberty University School of Business. A member of the Republican Party, he served as the U.S. representative for Virginia's 7th congressional district from 2014 to 2019. Brat came to national prominence when he defeated the House Majority Leader, Eric Cantor, in the district's 2014 Republican primary.
