United States Deputy Secretary Of Energy
The deputy secretary of energy is a high-ranking position within the United States Department of Energy. The Deputy Secretary is the second-highest-ranking official of the Department and assists the secretary of energy in the supervision and direction of the Department. The Deputy Secretary succeeds the Secretary in their absence, sickness, or unavailability. The Deputy Secretary is appointed by the President with the consent of the United States Senate to serve at the request of the President. The current Deputy Secretary is David Turk who was confirmed by the Senate by a vote of 98-2 on March 24, 2021. David M. Turk is an American attorney serving as the United States deputy secretary of energy in the Biden administration. Early life and education Turk was born in Quito, Ecuador and raised in Rock Falls, Illinois. Turk attended Rock Falls High School before he earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign and a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1999. Danny Ray Brouillette ( born August 18, 1962) is an American government official and businessman who served as the United States Secretary of Energy from 2019 to 2021.
