United Lutheran Mission Association
The United Lutheran Mission Association (ULMA) is a Lutheran church organization in the United States. History The United Lutheran Mission Association was established at a meeting in Chicago, Illinois, on July 16, 2005. There, representatives of two congregations that were formerly members of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS) began work on establishing Confessional Lutheran congregations in the United States. The current congregations of ULMA are: Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Decatur, Illinois; Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Forsyth, Illinois; Faith Lutheran Church in Jackson, Michigan; and Trinity Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas. The member churches of ULMA are in altar and pulpit fellowship with the Australian Evangelical Lutheran Church. Evangelical Lutheran Synod
The Evangelical Lutheran Synod (ELS) is a US-based Protestant Christian denomination based in Mankato, Minnesota. It describes itself as a conservative, Confessional Lutheran body. The ELS has 130 congregations and has missions in Peru, Chile, India, South Korea, Ukraine, Czech Republic, and Latvia. The ELS is in fellowship with the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) and is a member of the international Confessional Evangelical Lutheran Conference (CELC). Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod
The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), also referred to simply as the Wisconsin Synod, is an American Confessional Lutheran denomination of Christianity. Characterized as theologically conservative, it was founded in 1850 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. As of 2021, it had a baptized membership of 344,244 in 1,264 congregations, with churches in 47 US states and 4 provinces of Canada. Walther Theological Seminary
Walther Theological Seminary is an institution of theological higher education located in Decatur, Illinois, USA, that provides preparation of pastors for the congregations and missions of the United Lutheran Mission Association (ULMA) and Confessional Lutheran churches. The Seminary's practice and policy is to ordain only men for the ministry, in accordance with the historic biblical Lutheran view on the role of women. The M.A. degree program has no restrictions. It offers two master's degrees affiliated with training clergy (M.Div.) and lay people(M.A.). WTS is unique in that all instructors are active clergy who serve working congregations or missions. As of October, 2012, the faculty collectively averaged 27 years in the ministry. Jackson is the only city and county seat of Jackson County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 33,534, down from 36,316 at the 2000 census. Forsyth is a village in Macon County, Illinois, United States. Its population was 3,734 at the 2020 census, up from 3,490 in 2010. Confessional Lutheranism is a name used by Lutherans to designate those who believe in the doctrines taught in the ''Book of Concord'' of 1580 (the Lutheran confessional documents) in their entirety.
