{{no footnotes, date=April 2011 Israel Police's Unit of International Crime Investigations ( he, יחב"ל, ''Yahbal'') is the international and organized crime department of the National Major Crime unit (Lahav 433). The department was originally founded in 1978, after the 1977 investigation of worsening major crime trends in the Israeli society, by the Shimron Commission, since the commission's findings pointed at the existence of organized crime in the country. In the early days the department was focused solely on major crimes. In 1997, once there was a clear understanding of organized crime being a strategic threat to the democracy in the State of Israel, the unit's purpose was shifted into becoming a national unit dealing with the international links of organized crime, focusing on sophisticated crimes, and major events spanning both Israeli territory and foreign countries. The Israel Police ( he, משטרת ישראל, ''Mišteret Yisra'el''; ar, شرطة إسرائيل, ''Shurtat Isrāʼīl'') is the civilian police force of Israel. As with most other police forces in the world, its duties include crime fighting, traffic control, maintaining public safety, and counter-terrorism. It is under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Public Security. The National Headquarters of the Israel Police is located at Kiryat HaMemshala in Jerusalem. The Israel Police operates throughout Israel, the Area C of the West Bank and the Golan Heights, in all places in which Israel has civilian control. It is the sole civilian law enforcement agency in Israel: there are no municipal or regional police forces, though some municipalities operate municipal enforcement units that deal with low-level offenses and provide additional security and as such have the power to issue fines, but do not have police authority. Lahav 433
Lahav 433 () is an Israeli crime-fighting umbrella organization within the Israel Police, created on January 1, 2008. Known as the "Israeli FBI", the unit is the merger of five law enforcement offices into one. It was established as an initiative of then-Minister for Public Security, Avi Dichter, and the Head of Police's Investigations Branch, Yohanan Danino. It is tasked with investigating national crimes and corruption. It also investigates crimes such as murder and sexual assault. The number four is for the four region departments that form the unit while the number 33 is for The Gideonites, a Mista'arvim unit. The Unit's Headquarters is located in the North Industrial Zone of Lod. The current chief commander is Yigal Ben Shalom, since March 2018.
