Unidos Da Vila Maria
''Unidos'' (translation from Sardinian: "United") is a centre-right separatist political party in Sardinia. History The party was launched by Mauro Pili, a long-time member of centre-right parties like Forza Italia (FI) and The People of Freedom (PdL) and a former President of Sardinia (1999, 2001–2003), in November 2011. Originally a faction within the PdL, Unidos soon became a party upon Pili's exit from that party in October 2013. As Pili had been elected to the Chamber of Deputies in the 2013 general election, Unidos was represented in Parliament until 2018. In the 2014 regional election Pili ran for president and won 5.7% of the vote, while the party and a list named after the leader obtained 2.8% and 1.7% of the vote, respectively, both with no seats in the Regional Council. Several political parties operate in Sardinia. No party has ever had the chance of gaining power alone and thus parties must work with each other to form coalition governments. The political parties are currently organized mainly in two political coalitions at the regional level: once centred on the Sardinian Action Party and Lega Sardegna, the other around Democratic Party. Because of their ideological and political factionalism, the Sardinian nationalist parties have played a marginal role in the electoral scene. 2019 Sardinian Regional Election
The 2019 Sardinian regional election took place on 24 February 2019. The election was for all 59 elected seats of the Regional Council of Sardinia as well as the President of the Region who, along with the second placed presidential candidate, would also become members of the Regional Council. 2014 Sardinian Regional Election
The Sardinian regional election of 2014 took place on 16 February 2014. Francesco Pigliaru of the Democratic Party defeated incumbent Ugo Cappellacci of Forza Italia. The combined score of the highly fragmented Sardist parties was 26%. The Five Star Movement did not take part to the election, after Beppe Grillo refused to concede the use of his party's symbol. The notorious novelist Michela Murgia, who received more than the 10% of votes, wasn't elected because of the new high electoral threshold. New electoral system In 2013 Sardinian electoral law was changed once again. While the President of Sardinia and the first leader of the opposition are still elected at-large, 58 councillors, instead of 64 as it was before, are elected by party lists under a form of semi-proportional representation. 2013 Italian General Election
The 2013 Italian general election was held on 24 and 25 February 2013 to determine the 630 members of the Chamber of Deputies and the 315 elective members of the Senate of the Republic for the 17th Italian Parliament. The centre-left alliance Italy Common Good, led by the Democratic Party (PD), obtained a clear majority of seats in the Chamber of Deputies thanks to a majority bonus that effectively trebled the number of seats assigned to the winning force and narrowly defeated the centre-right alliance of former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi in the popular vote. The Chamber of Deputies ( it, Camera dei deputati) is the lower house of the bicameral Italian Parliament (the other being the Senate of the Republic). The People of Freedom ( it, Il Popolo della Libertà, PdL) was a centre-right political party in Italy. The PdL, launched by Silvio Berlusconi on 18 November 2007, was initially a federation of political parties, notably including Forza Italia and National Alliance, which participated as a joint election list in the 2008 general election. Separatism
Separatism is the advocacy of cultural, ethnic, tribal, religious, racial, governmental or gender separation from the larger group.
