Young Pirate ( sv, Ung Pirat) is the youth organisation of the Swedish Pirate Party. It was founded in December 2006 and had, from April 2009 until spring 2010, over 22,000 members. It was by far the largest political youth organisation by member count in Sweden. Pirate Party is a label adopted by political parties around the world. Pirate parties support civil rights, direct democracy (including e-democracy) or alternatively participation in government, reform of copyright and patent law, free sharing of knowledge ( open content), information privacy, transparency, freedom of information, free speech, anti-corruption and net neutrality. The Pirate Party ( sv, Piratpartiet) is a political party in Sweden founded in 2006. Its sudden popularity has given rise to parties with the same name and similar goals in Europe and worldwide, forming the International Pirate Party movement. The Pirate Party was initially formed to reform laws regarding copyright and patents. The party agenda includes support for strengthening the individual's right to privacy, both on the Internet and in everyday life, and the transparency of state administration. The Pirate Party has intentionally chosen to be bloc independent of the traditional left-right scale to pursue their political agenda with all mainstream parties. The party originally stayed neutral on other matters, but started broadening into other political areas in 2012. Young Pirates Of Europe
The Young Pirates of Europe (YPE) are a European federation of European pirate youth organisations and other youth organisations that work on digital issues, for transparency in government, participating democracy and civil rights. While the federation is a founding member and the Youth wing, youth organisation of the European Pirate Party, it is an independent organisation with both Pirate and non-Pirate affiliated member organisations. It was founded in August 2013 and is officially registered in Luxembourg. The association is managed by a board of up to 7 members. It was founded as a non-profit organisation in Sweden, but has changed its registered seat a number of times. On 19 September 2014, the original Swedish organisation was disbanded and YPE was founded anew as a Belgian organisation. Pirate Parties International (PPI) is an international non-profit and non-governmental organization with headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. Formed in 2010, it serves as a worldwide organization for Pirate Parties, currently representing 39 members from 36 countries across Europe, Americas, Asia, Africa and Australasia. Young Pirates (german: Junge Piraten, ''JuPis'') is a youth organisation of the Pirate Party of Germany.
