Umm Al-Nasser
Om al-Nasr or Al-Qaraya al-Badawiya is an area within the northern Gaza governorate in Palestine. The population of the village was about 4,737 according to Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) in 2017.التعداد العام للسكان 2017 - الجهاز المركزي للإحصاء الفلسطيني The village was established in 1997 on an area of 800 dunums. North Gaza Governorate
The North Gaza Governorate ( ar, محافظة شمال غزة) is one of the five Governorates of Palestine in the Gaza Strip which is administered by Palestine, aside from its border with Israel, airspace and maritime territory. According to the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the Governorate had a population of 270,245 (7.2% of the Palestinian population) with 40,262 households in mid-year 2007 encompassing three municipalities, two rural districts and one refugee camp. |

Arabic Script
The Arabic script is the writing system used for Arabic and several other languages of Asia and Africa. It is the second-most widely used writing system in the world by number of countries using it or a script directly derived from it, and the third-most by number of users (after the Latin and Chinese scripts). The script was first used to write texts in Arabic, most notably the Quran, the holy book of Islam. Latin Script
The Latin script, also known as Roman script, is an alphabetic writing system based on the letters of the classical Latin alphabet, derived from a form of the Greek alphabet which was in use in the ancient Greek city of Cumae, in southern Italy ( Magna Grecia). It was adopted by the Etruscans and subsequently by the Romans. Several Latin-script alphabets exist, which differ in graphemes, collation and phonetic values from the classical Latin alphabet. Palestinian Territories
The Palestinian territories are the two regions of the former British Mandate for Palestine that have been militarily occupied by Israel since the Six-Day War of 1967, namely: the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) and the Gaza Strip. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has referred to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, as "the Occupied Palestinian Territory", and this term was used as the legal definition by the ICJ in its advisory opinion of July 2004. The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS; ar, الجهاز المركزي للإحصاء الفلسطيني) is the official statistical institution of the State of Palestine. Its main task is to provide credible statistical figures at the national and international levels. It is a state institution that provides service to the governmental, non – governmental and private sectors in addition to research institutions and universities. It is established as an independent statistical bureau. The PCBS publishes the ''Statistical Yearbook of Palestine'' and the ''Jerusalem Statistical Yearbook'' annually. The head office of the agency is in Ein Munjed Quarter, Ramallah. Activities Besides general statistics, such as the Retail Price Index, the PCBS also carries out special projects. Umm Al-Nasr Mosque
Umm al-Nasr Mosque ( ar, مسجد أم النصر) or Beit Hanoun Mosque is the oldest mosque in the Palestinian city of Beit Hanoun in the Gaza Strip, located in the center of the city. History The Umm al-Nasr Mosque was built 1239 by the Ayyubids to commemorate their soldiers who had died in the battle on the mosque site between them and the Crusaders. The Ayyubids were victorious, hence the name ''Umm al-Nasr'' ("Mother of Victories"). The inscription on the wall above the mosque entrance attributes the construction to Ayyubid sultan al-Adil II. The battle that is commemorated was not a major one, but in the history of later Crusades it was significant. Egyptian historian al-Maqrizi mentions that the battle occurred on November 13, 1239 and ended in an Egyptian (Ayyubid) victory. Muamar Family Detention Incident
The Muamar family detention incident occurred very early on the morning of June 24, 2006, in the first arrests of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip by Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) since the Israeli disengagement from Gaza one year earlier, when IDF soldiers detained Osama and Mustafa Muamar. The raid began 03:30 local time (00:30 UTC). IDF troops entered the house of the Muamar family in the village of Umm al-Nasser, near the Rafah Camp, about one kilometer from the Israeli border. The soldiers detained Osama and Mustafa Muamar. According to their father Ali Muamar, "they blindfolded and handcuffed me and started beating me up with the butts of their rifles and kicking me".
