A poet is a person who studies and creates poetry. Poets may describe themselves as such or be described as such by others. Roswitha Prize
The Roswitha Prize (german: Roswitha-Preis) is the oldest German language prize for literature that is given solely to women. The Roswitha-Medal has been given almost yearly since 1973 by the city of Bad Gandersheim. In 1998 it received its modern designation along with an endowment of €5,500. It is named for Roswitha of Gandersheim, a 10th-century Benedictine nun who is considered the first female German playwright and author. Hannelore Greve Literature Prize
The Hannelore Greve Literature Prize honors outstanding achievements in the field of German-language literature. The Hamburg Authors' Association has been awarding the Hannelore Greve Literature Prize every two years since 2004, alternating annually with the Walter Kempowski Literature Prize. NRW Literatur im Netz is a German internet database with short biographies of persons who have lived or worked in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Westphälische Literaturbüro (Westphalian office for literature) in Unna operates the biggest database for literary production in North Rhine-Westphalia, continuously updated since 2001. The database presents authors from NRW with detailed portraits as well as literary institutions and publishers. Content Currently the database contains the bio-bibliographical data of more than 600 authors from North Rhine-Westphalia. It also offers text samples or press photographs, of the writers for download. Amongst other things, it allows searches for authors by region, genre, gender or in alphabetical order.
