Uglješa Uzelac
Uglješa Uzelac (1938 – 6 September 1997) was a Bosnian politician and diplomat who served as the 27th Mayor of Sarajevo from 1983 until 1985 and was Bosnia and Herzegovina's Ambassador to Slovenia from 1992 until his death on 6 September 1997. He was also the President of the Basketball Federation of Yugoslavia from 1989 to 1991. Biography Uzelac was born in 1938 in the village of Ivanjska, Bosanska Krupa near Banja Luka. He was educated in Sarajevo, where he graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business. He worked at the UPI Bank of Sarajevo, and was also director of it. Uzelac was the president of the Assembly of KK Bosna, President of the Basketball Federation of Yugoslavia and a member of the Organizing Committee of the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo. Sarajevo has had 38 different mayors in 39 different mayorships since the position was created on 22 August 1878, upon Austro-Hungarian occupation. History The first mayor of Sarajevo Mustafa Fadilpašić was also the city's longest-served mayor, having remained in office for 14 years. The School of Economics and Business (SEBS) is a business school affiliated with the University of Sarajevo. It is often known with its former name, the Faculty of Economics (''Economiski Fakultet'') History Founded in July 1952, the Faculty of Economics of the University of Sarajevo was one of the four faculties of economics in socialist Yugoslavia. The first lecture was held in the building of the Palace of Justice (today's Rectorate and Faculty of Law) on 14 October 1952. Enrolments averaged 200 per year in the 1950s.
