Uforia Audio Network () is the radio broadcasting and music events division of TelevisaUnivision USA. Formerly known as Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation and Univision Radio, it is the eighth-largest radio broadcaster in the United States, and the largest specifically catering to Hispanic and Latino Americans. The company is headquartered in Los Angeles. History Univision, previously known as Hispanic Broadcasting Corp. (between 2000 and September 22, 2003) and Heftel Broadcasting Corp, was the result of a February 14, 1997 merger of Tichenor Media System, Inc., a private company based in Dallas, Texas, and Heftel Broadcasting, a public company based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Cecil Heftel
Cecil Landau Heftel (September 30, 1924 – February 4, 2010), popularly known as Cec Heftel, was an American politician and businessman from Hawai'i. He served in the United States House of Representatives from 1977 to 1986 for the First Congressional District, encompassing most of urban Honolulu. Early years Heftel was born in Chicago, Illinois; his maternal grandparents were from Russia and his paternal grandparents from Poland. He attended Roosevelt High School in Albany Park, Chicago, then obtained his bachelor's degree from the Arizona State University in 1951. Heftel then attended the University of Utah and New York University for graduate work. Heftel was a Latter-day Saint. Heftel settled in Honolulu and established Heftel Broadcasting. KFLC (1270 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Benbrook, Texas and broadcasting to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The station is owned by Univision Radio, with studios located along the John W. Carpenter Freeway in the Stemmons Corridor of Northwest Dallas. KFLC airs a Spanish language sports radio format, primarily airing programming from the co-owned TUDN Radio Network. It also carries play by play featuring Texas Rangers Dallas Mavericks and FC Dallas KFLC is a Class B regional station, that uses a directional antenna at all times from its transmitter site off East Lancaster Avenue (Route 180) in Fort Worth. KESS-FM (107.1 MHz) is a commercial radio station licensed to Benbrook, Texas, and serving communities in the western sections of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It is owned and operated by the Uforia Audio Network, a division of TelevisaUnivision. It has a Spanish-language contemporary hit radio format, simulcast with co-owned 107.9 KDXX in Lewisville, Texas. KESS has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 100,000 watts, the maximum for non-grandfathered FM stations. The transmitter is off Tin Top Estates Road in Horseshoe Bend. Warren W. Tichenor (born in Harlingen, Texas in 1960) served as the 16th United States Ambassador to the United Nations International Organizations in Geneva. He served under president George W. Bush, and was sworn in on June 12, 2006 after being confirmed by a unanimous vote of the United States Senate on May 26, 2006.
