Ub (Serbia)
Ub ( sr-cyr, Уб) is a town and municipality located in the Kolubara District of western Serbia. As of 2011, the population of the town is 6,164, while population of the municipality is 29,022 inhabitants. History The first communities established at the municipal territory of Ub, according to the historical traces and traces of human civilization discovered in the current settlements of Trlić, Kalinovac, Brgule, originated from the time of Vinča culture, in the period around 5000 BC. In the settlement of Čučuge today there are traces of the Bronze Age. The most probable theory of the origin of the name is from the Latin word "urb", meaning "city". According to legends, the place was built in the reign of Prince Kocelj, and it was named after his brother Slavoljub. Over time, the names shortened to just "Ub". Kocelj
Kocelj ( 861–874) was a ruler of the Slavs in Lower Pannonia. He was an East Frankish vassal titled ''comes'' (count), and is believed to have ruled between 861 or 864 and 876. Life Kocelj was the second son of Pribina, a Slavic ''dux'' installed by the Franks in Lower Pannonia in ca. 838 or 840. Bowlus believes he was born in ca. 820. In 861, Kocelj made a significant donation to the Freising monastery, showing that he had a solid social and political standing. According to Bowlus, this document indicates that Pribina had died, and Kocelj succeeded him. Louis the German installed Kocel as a ruler in Lower Pannonia in 864. Kocelj held "Lower Pannonia" (''Pannonia inferioris'') in 865, when Archbishop Adalwin of Salzburg visited his lands twice. In 869, Kocel had requested for Byzantine missionary Methodius to be sent into Pannonia as a papal legate. Kalenić (Serbian Cyrillic: Каленић) is a village in the municipality of Ub in western Serbia. According to the 2011 census, Kalenić had 759 residents. Tamnava
The Tamnava (Serbian Cyrillic: Тамнава) is a river in western Serbia. It is a -long left tributary of the Kolubara River and also gives the name to the surrounding region of Tamnava. Origin The Tamnava originates from several small streams from the hill of ''Konjsko brdo'' (Cyrillic: ''Коњско брдо''; ''Horse hill'') on the northern slopes of Vlašić mountain, northwest of the town of Valjevo, less than a kilometer away from the source of its major tributary, the Ub River. The Tamnava passes next to the village of Miličinica, makes sharp turn to the northwest along the Vlašić mountain, passes the village of Donje Crniljevo and makes another sharp, elbow turn to the east around the Braznik hill (Cyrillic: ''Бразник''), near the Gradojević village. The Bosnian War ( sh, Rat u Bosni i Hercegovini / Рат у Босни и Херцеговини) was an international armed conflict that took place in Bosnia and Herzegovina between 1992 and 1995.
