UP2U
''UP2U'' is a British children's television series that aired on BBC1 from 16 July 1988 to 16 September 1989. The programme aired on Saturday mornings and was broadcast live from Manchester; the first series from a dedicated studio (at BBC North West in central Manchester) and the second from the programme's own production office. The programme featured a mix of entertainment features, location reports, guest interviews and 'things-to-do' guides, with the title "UP2U" referring to the fact that, like in ''Blue Peter'', viewers could write in to suggest subject matter for features and articles, and also vote by telephone during the live show for features, inserts and music videos to be shown. Each week, two of the presenters would be in the studio/office presenting the bulk of the show, with the third on location providing reports linked into the show at various points. Anthea Turner
Anthea Turner (born 25 May 1960) is an English former television presenter. She was a host of ''Blue Peter'' from 1992 until 1994, and of ''GMTV'' from 1994 until 1996. Early life Turner was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, and educated at the Roman Catholic girls' school St Dominic's Grammar School in Stoke. She was one of three daughters born to her parents Brian and Jean Turner. One of her sisters, Ruth, died aged 15. Her other sister is presenter Wendy Turner Webster. Career Turner joined BBC Radio Stoke as a runner, eventually joining breakfast show presenter Bruno Brookes as part of his rap crew. The couple became romantically involved and employed Peter Powell as an agent through his management company. Jenny Powell (born 8 April 1968) is an English television and radio presenter. After appearing on '' No Limits'', she went on to present series such as ''Wheel of Fortune'', '' UP2U'', ''Gimme 5'', '' Live Talk'', ''Wordplay'' and '' Daybreak''. Early life Jenny Powell was born on 8 April 1968 in Ilford, England. Powell's parents are of Cape Coloured descent from South Africa. She attended Woodford County High School for Girls in Woodford Green and the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. Career Powell began her career in 1985 as the ad voiceover for the 6th and 7th volumes of the ''Now That's What I Call Music!'' series. Clement Anthony Dortie (born July 1963) is a British TV personality and former ''Top of the Pops'' presenter. He set up his own production company called Triple T Entertainment. He has appeared on various popular entertainment networks such as BBC, Music Box, ITV (''Schofield's Quest''), British Film Institute, MTV, BBC World Service, 3e (''Glam Slam'') and various others as a host. BBC Genome Project
The BBC Genome Project is an online searchable database of programme listings initially based upon the contents of the ''Radio Times'' from the first issue in 1923 to 2009. Television listings from post-2009 can be accessed via the BBC Programmes site. History Prior BBC Genome is not the first online searchable database. In April 2006, they gave the public access to Infax – their only electronic programme database at the time. It contained around 900,000 entries but not every programme ever broadcast, and it ceased operation in December 2007. The front page of the website is still available to see via the Internet Archive. After Infax ceased, a message on the website said that it would be incorporating in the information into individual programme pages.
