The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) was formed on 14 August 2003 by United Nations Security Council Resolution 1500, United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 1500 at the request of the Iraqi government to support national development efforts. The International Compact with Iraq is (was?) a joint initiative of the Government of Iraq and the United Nations launched in 2007 for a new partnership between Iraq and the international community.
