UEFA Women's Euro 1995
The 1995 UEFA Women's Championship was a women's association football tournament which was held between 11 December 1994 and 26 March 1995, involving UEFA-affiliated national teams who have qualified for the competition. Germany won the competition for the third time. Format In the qualifying round, 29 teams were divided into 8 groups (containing 3 or 4 teams), with the winners of each group advancing to the quarter-finals. In the quarter-finals and semi-finals, matches were played on a home-and-away two-legged basis. In the final, only one match was played, with the winner claiming the UEFA Women's Championship title. While one of the semi-final matches was played in 1994, and there was no singular host, UEFA considers the semi-finals and final as part of the final tournament. Lena Videkull
Lena Mari Anette Videkull (born 6 December 1962) is a Swedish former association football forward who won 111 caps for the Sweden women's national football team, scoring 71 goals. Videkull can be seen in the Sveriges Television documentary television series '' The Other Sport'' from 2013. Club career Videkull won the Damallsvenskan championship six times in her career. She was the league's top goalscorer on a record six occasions. International career Videkull made her senior Sweden debut in the final of the first UEFA championships for national women's teams in May 1984. Sweden beat England 1–0 in the first leg at Ullevi, then prevailed in a penalty shootout at Kenilworth Road, Luton after a 1–0 defeat. Ann Kristin Aarønes
Ann Kristin Aarønes (born 19 January 1973) is a Norwegian former footballer. She first played for Spjelkavik IL, then for Trondheims-Ørn and the Norwegian national team. Later she played for the WUSA's New York Power, during the club's first season of play in 2001. Club career At club level with Trondheims-Ørn she won six Norwegian Women's Cup competitions and five Toppserien championships between 1993 and 2000. Aarønes signed for the professional Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) ahead of the inaugural season in 2001. She was allocated to New York Power alongside compatriot Gro Espeseth. Plagued by lower back and hamstring injuries, she was only able to play for one season before retiring. Linda Medalen
Linda Medalen (born 17 June 1965) is a former Norwegian footballer. She is one of Norway's most celebrated former footballers, finishing her international career with 152 caps, scoring 64 goals. She was on the Norway team that won the 1995 FIFA Women's World Cup. She played most of her career in Norway with Asker Fotball, and retired in 2006, at 41 years old. She also spent seven seasons in Japan with Nikko. She started her career as a striker, but as her career progressed, she moved further back on the field, and was playing toward the end of her career in central defence. Ruhrstadion (), known as Vonovia Ruhrstadion for sponsorship reasons, is a football stadium in Bochum, Germany. It is the home ground for the VfL Bochum and has a capacity of 27,599. It was known as rewirpowerSTADION (or, rarely, ) from 2006 to 2016, also for sponsorship reasons. History In 1911 the Spiel und Sport Bochum leased a meadow from a local farmer as their new home ground. The club played the first match at the new venue against the VfB Hamm in front of 500 spectators. The TuS Bochum did not build a stadium until after World War I as late as 1921. The stadium has a capacity of 27,599 people. The original capacity was over 50,000 but was decreased by numerous modifications. Louise Waller
Louise "Lou" Waller (born 30 July 1969) is an English former international women's football defender. She was a member of the England squad for the 1995 FIFA Women's World Cup Finals. In a long association with Millwall Lionesses, Waller served the club as a player, coach, development officer, secretary and chairperson. Club career In 1995, Waller was playing for Millwall Lionesses. She won both the 1996–97 FA Women's Premier League Cup and FA Women's Cup with Millwall. In the final of the latter competition, Waller headed the winning goal from Justine Lorton's corner, in front of 3,015 supporters at Upton Park. Sørlandshallen
Sørlandshallen is a sports hall in Kristiansand, Norway. The hall was put into use in 1992. It is located in Sørlandsparken by the E18, east of the city center near Kristiansand Dyrepark, Sørlandets Travpark and Sørlandssenteret. The hall is used by local football teams for indoor football, including IK Start (which has training facilities there during the winter months). The hall is also sometimes used for indoor gocart. Helen Björk (born 9 July 1965, as Helen Johansson) is a Swedish former association football forward who won 88 caps and scored 23 goals for the Sweden women's national football team. She helped Sweden win the 1984 European Championship and played at the inaugural 1991 FIFA Women's World Cup. Anneli Andelén (born 21 June 1968) is a Swedish former association football forward who won 88 caps for the Sweden women's national football team, scoring 37 goals. She represented Sweden at the FIFA Women's World Cup in 1991 and 1995. Andelén also played professional club football in Japan with Suzuyo Shimizu F.C. Lovely Ladies.
