UDC Firebirds
The District of Columbia Firebirds (also UDC Firebirds) are the athletic teams that represent the University of the District of Columbia, located in Washington, D.C., in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Firebirds compete as members of the East Coast Conference for all nine sports. Varsity teams Men's sports (4) *Basketball *Lacrosse *Soccer *Tennis Women's sports (5) *Basketball *Cross country *Lacrosse *Tennis *Track and field History The Firebirds have experienced recent success in men's and women's tennis winning the East Coast Conference team titles their first season as a part of the conference; with the women's tennis team making it all the way to the "Sweet Sixteen" in the NCAA Division II tournament. The Firebirds also excelled on the hardwood in 2011–12 where both men's and women's basketball teams made it to the East Regional Quarterfinals in the 2012 NCAA Men's Division II Basketball Tournament. The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is a public historically black land-grant university in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1851 and is the only public university in the city. UDC is a member school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. The full university system offers workforce and certificate programs in addition to Associate, Baccalaureate, Master's, professional, and Doctoral degrees. The university's academic schools and programs include the UDC Community College, College of Arts and Sciences, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, School of Business and Public Administration, Colleges of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability & Environmental Sciences, and David A.
