Geography

Užava begins between and in Gudenieki Parish. It flows along the Piemare and Ventava plains in a north-eastern direction. Užava, Latvia
Užava (german: Hasau) is a village in Ventspils Municipality, Latvia. It is the center of Užava Parish. Village is located on the bank of the Užava river by the highway P111 23 km from the municipal center Ventspils and 210 km from Riga. There is an elementary school, a house of culture and a library. ''Užavas Alus'' brewery is located 3 km from the village on highway P111 in direction toward Liepāja. History The settlement is located near the center of the former Užava manor (german: Hasau) and the Lutheran church. In the Russian Empire village belonged to the Windau district, Courland Governorate. The Evangelical Lutheran Church was built in 1783 and renovated in 1892. A Baptist parish was founded in 1861 and a church was built in 1888. This church establishment marks the beginning of the Baptist movement in Latvia. Užava Lowland
Užava lowland is nature park Ventspils Municipality. It is located in the Užava river floodplain Užavas and Ziru parishes, occupies a large part of the currently dysfunctional Užava polder. Important bird habitat The nature park was established in 2004 and has been recognised as an Important Bird Area (IBA) by BirdLife International because it supports populations of whooper swan (Cygnus cygnus), taiga bean goose ( Anser fabalis), corncrake ( Crex crex) during their migration and nesting. Birds, mainly waterfowl (geese, swans, ducks, gulls), congregate here during spring migration to rest in flooded fields and meadows. Ventspils Municipality
Ventspils Municipality ( lv, Ventspils novads) is a municipality in Courland, Latvia. The municipality was formed in 2009 by merging Piltene town, Ance Parish, Jūrkalne Parish, Piltene rural community (from 2010 Piltene Parish), Pope Parish, Puze Parish, Tārgale Parish, Ugāle Parish, Usma Parish, Užava Parish, Vārve Parish, Ziras Parish and Zlēkas Parish.
