Uši
''Uši'' is the sixth studio album by Czech progressive rock band Už jsme doma. It was released in 1999 via Skoda Records. The record was somewhat of an American breakthrough for the band and also marked the first time that they had worked with an American producer. A 2000 tour in support of the album coincided with the band's fifteenth anniversary. Production ''Uši'' was produced by Dan Rathburn, of the band Idiot Flesh. Critical reception Francois Couture, in an AllMusic review, wrote that producer "Dan Rathbun captured the band members' live energy while allowing them an ample sound for their more symphonic inclinations." ''CMJ New Music Monthly'' stated that "a studied roughness continues to creep into the kinetic art-rock/jazz/ethnic/punk/chamber pop fusion theorized by key personnel Miroslav Wanek and Jindra Dolansky." Progressive Rock
Progressive rock (shortened as prog rock or simply prog; sometimes conflated with art rock) is a broad genre of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom and United States through the mid- to late 1960s, peaking in the early 1970s. AllMusic (previously known as All Music Guide and AMG) is an American online music database. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Initiated in 1991, the database was first made available on the Internet in 1994. AllMusic is owned by RhythmOne. ''The Province'' is a daily newspaper published in tabloid format in British Columbia by Pacific Newspaper Group, a division of Postmedia Network, alongside the ''Vancouver Sun'' broadsheet newspaper. Idiot Flesh
Idiot Flesh was an American experimental rock band formed in Oakland, California, in 1985, initially working under the name Acid Rain. Their work was characterized by its "rock against rock" slogan, and defied classification with its incorporation of marching band routines, puppet shows, and the playing of household items as tuned instruments. Adopting the Idiot Flesh moniker in 1987, they went on to release three full-length albums before disbanding in 1998. Founding members Nils Frykdahl and Dan Rathbun later played in Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, while Gene Jun later joined the Sun and Moon Ensemble. CMJ Holdings Corp. is a music events and online media company, originally founded in 1978, which ran a website, hosted an annual festival in New York City, and published two magazines, ''CMJ New Music Monthly'' and ''CMJ New Music Report''. ''The San Diego Union-Tribune'' is a metropolitan daily newspaper published in San Diego, California, that has run since 1868. Its name derives from a 1992 merger between the two major daily newspapers at the time, ''The San Diego Union'' and the ''San Diego Evening Tribune''. The name changed to ''U-T San Diego'' in 2012 but was changed again to ''The San Diego Union-Tribune'' in 2015. In 2015, it was acquired by Tribune Publishing. Miroslav Wanek
Miroslav Wanek (, born 7 April 1962) is a Czech musician, poet, and lyricist. He is the frontman for the avant-garde punk rock group Už jsme doma, in which he has served as lead vocalist since 1986, bassist from 1986 to 1988, guitarist and keyboardist since 1988, major composer and co-composer from 1986 to 2001, and sole composer since 2001. Prior to Už jsme doma, he played bass and sang in the punk group FPB (Fourth Price Band), from 1980 to 1985. His musical background includes two years of classical piano training and conservatory. Wanek's lyrics have earned him a reputation as a respected Czech poet. Career FPB and Už jsme doma In 1980, Wanek helped found the punk rock group FPB (Fourth Price Band).
